	Is the site getting hammered today? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

I haven't had any luck browsing without getting the dreaded "maximum number of guests has been exceeded" error at all today. And I can't see how many people are online on the frontpage, either, so I'm just assuming the site's under an unusually high load today. Anyone else having trouble?

I'm having a 1:5 hit/miss ratio. Its better in the past ten minutes though.

I'm not getting the "too many guests" anymore - I'm getting the IE error script "Cannot load page".

I'm having the same trouble as everyone else. It has eased off in the last 20 minutes, though .... that's already been long enough for me to make a fool of myself. I wonder what I'll do in the next 20 ....

this is our bandwidth graph today
as you can see, there is no outage

there have been of course several occasions where there was a huge row of requests and it might seem to you that the server was down. or a request of yours was waiting to be processed and the http or the mysql server was restarted to give it some "breathing" time and you got an error page("server not responding" in case of http, mysql error in case of mysql)

the cause is simply increased interest in all games we cover along with special features(ron preview, moo3 interview and screens, etc)

we're working on finding some sollutions...

Markos, I am going to whine.

For the past few days,

1. Avatars have become a RARITY. Can't see my own, can't see anyone elses...Heck, I still want to see TKGs.

2. The large link to the chat room has disappeared for quite a whiel....

3. I'm getting MANY more error such as "Too many guests" (just got one of those a few seconds ago), "Cannot load page", "Connections are too many or whatever".....And for longer times.

PLEASE PLEASE work out a solution to this.

Actually it's interesting since even sites like google.com appear to have troubles.

I read just today that for the last several days, there were mupliple DDOS attacks on many root servers.

I'm not claiming apolyton is one, but some of the false traffic could somehow end up here, right?

It seems to have eased . Like everyone, have experienced difficulties getting thru. BUt have not notice any problem with google or any other Smac sites I visit.
