There is no way Austria-Hungary was part of the German empire.
They were pretty big and probably them and Portugal are top 2 left.

The only problem with Khmer is that they are quite a bit more obsecure than the other civs on my list, well they are about as obsecure as Mali, but Africa needs another civ far more than Asia.
However, I do think they are probably just famous enough for Firaxis to include them. There was the whole Khmer Rouge thing that probably stirred some interest in them. They were also mentioned in the recent Tomb Raider movie, so that always helps them out a bit.
If Firaxis deciedes to add another Asian civ, I think that it would almost have to be Khmer. In fact, I'm pretty sure that they would they would take them by a pretty good margin over some of their closest rivals, like Polynesia, Thai, Annam, and so on.

Personally I'd like some of the nations involved in recent skirmishes like Serbia-Croatia, Vietnam, Iraq, etc. (Yea I know Iraq is Arabs)... I prefer a more historically accurate Civ and wouldn't mind putting the Yugoslavia skirmish down myself...

Honestly, I tried to complete your poll, but I just couldn't. There are only one or two civs missing now that PTW is coming out in my opinion, namely the Inca (we need a civ in south america, no?) and another one to fill out west africa.
I mean, really, can Poland, Canada, Brazil etc. really be considered as civilizations? To me they are modern nation-states, nothing more. Yes, some would also say this about Germany, England etc., but they have their roots going back a thousand years or more, and have both played a huge part in world history since then, as well as fighting some of history's most devestating wars.
To be honest, I could live without any new civs after PTW comes out. To me, the biggest things missing now are farms and more military units. That's it.
Just my two cents.....

Hey, you left out the Byzantines! They are a shoe-in for the next XP. I would say Dutch, Inca, and Hebrews are also shoe-ins as well.
I would suspect that Firaxis includes another African civ such as Songhai or Mali and then perhaps the Poles, Portugese, and Khmer. It's difficult to say who will be in past the shoe-ins, given such a large number of civs to choose from. |
My sentiments exactly.

but if there is another one, add max of 3 civ and focus on other features... i dont want firaxis to pretend they added a whole boat load of feature by making excess civ that posibly cant have different trait that existing ones have. besides some people prefer to mod civs w/o taking out existin civs so maxing out civ # for next xp = bad idea.
Incas are the only civ that could possibly have legitimate reason to be in.
1. they are cool civ (although rest are cool too)
2. geographic. (south america)
3. Balances cultural link (Need more american culture) |
The Dutch have a very legitimate reason to be in the game. I'm surprised they're not already.
