Not one single game, ok, except MAYBE the first, has started on time.
Ever since, 1/2 hour to 1 1/2 hours late starting, so I don't want to listen to your crap Hydey.
You mouth off about AI improving my Civ, which shows what a moron you can be.
Yeah, I come back next game, you're at war with my AI civ.
I come back, and my AI civ has dropped a Wonder, and started building it in another city.
I got Adam's any damned way. Tough. I guess you think the AI picked and followed that path? I'm the one that got to Economics first, not the AI.
I know they built walls, and I sold them and bought off Adam's before they could switch to Marco's again, in our ONE WONDER game.
Did I cry in my beer? No. I didn't say a word. I pulled up my pants from my royal reaming, and pressed on; ready to take resonsibility for, under whatever the circumstances, having to leave before others.
So here's the deal now. I either want an hour, at least, earlier start (earlier than when we're in theory scheduled to start), or go find another whipping boy.
I have other things to do besides wait hours on end for you all to show up, and then whimper and sob at me after you finally get there.

Okay, I know I was guilty of causing a delay one week {too much salt+sun-addled brain}, but I too would like the game to start on time regularly. Although to the best of my memory it seems not to be one or two who are consistently late, more a side effect of having a lot of players leading very different lives. Maybe we should set a time limit of being 15 mins late before we start with a sub or the AI? Also if people would show up 10 mins early to actually start on time it would be a big help. But back to the important bit - the game itself!
Wonders are -
Hanging Gardens - Americans
Great Library - Deitians
Mikes Chapel - Japanese
Copernicus' Observatory - Viking
Shakespeares Theatre - Egyptians
JS Bachs Cathedral - Sioux
Adam Smiths - Celts
The Egyptian empire expanded rapidly, and suffered a necessary descent into hedonism. They managed to hold their own for a while, with only the deitians and later the Japanese gaining a significant advantage. Caravans and ships traversed the world, establishing embassies with all other civilisations and beginning a good trading pattern.
But then the leaders looked for other solutions to help ease the growing unrest, and turned to religion. Not the gods of old, but a simpler monotheistic view of the spiritual life. The old gods were displeased at their displacement, and bitterly withdrew to leave the spiritual wellbeing of the populace to a single entity. This entity proved a hard task master, demanding much time and resources be diverted to building cathedrals to his greatness and walls, aquaducts and other city improvements. And then the harshest decree of all came down - celibacy. The citizens remained content, but their numbers remained stagnant, and they struggled more and more to keep up with the rate of growth that other civilizations were experiencing. Their pleas and attempts to celebrate fertility rites fell on deaf ears, and war with the evil celts further hindered progress. A valuable shipping lane was gained, but much time was lost.
Eventually peace came, and gradually the ways of old made a resurgence - merchants resumed their trading and once again a mighty fleet begin to amass. But it is a slow path, and until the gods of old can be returned to power their blessings will be sorely missed. But the force is growing stringer, and a golden age is prophecised by the seers.
Just before the final days of the last President, a spy, left over from the time before the war with the celts, was discovered within their capital, listening to their messages. Without warning the empire was plunged into anarchy, and once again the celtic armies march out in vengeance. A power struggle is currently underway, and it is hoped a new President of firm character will emerge soon, to make peace with our barbaric neighbours and once again lead Egypt to peace, riches and growth. To be continued....

The Celts under Sloww have been peaceful and good neighbours {even if they do intend to nuke the Egyptian capital later in the game : / } However under Winzity and every time the AI takes over they do become nasty and warlike. At last turn cannons were advancing on my positions. You must make peace immediately upon resumption and then withdraw your forces or they WILL be destroyed on my next turn.

Unfortunately I can't ask you to wait for ALL the regulars, or the game will take forever. I just found out I sail on the 7th, and will be at sea for 3-4 weeks. Then back in for a week and out for 3-4 again. And as I don't yet have a portable satellite dish I can't access the net from sea. I've asked Hartster if he wants to take over, but will accept other nominations in case he can't do it. I'm really sorry to bow out, I am really getting into this game {and had a plan to annihilate the celts} but I am embarking on a new professional adventure and that does take precedence over games.
