CTP is being used as a teaching tool in schools, I would bet in time this game will become a classic let alone an educational tool

I'm developing an antipathy towards CtP2, as I do not like bugs. I do not like buggery games, and I do not think I would enjoy it if it is that bad.

You would enjoy CtP2 unmodded in single player for awhile until it becomes really easy (that isnt very long) at that point it becomes very boring, but its far more balanced in multiplayer than CtP1. The testers put alot of thought into gameplay balance, and learnt mistakes in that area from CtP1, which isnt very often spoken in favour for CtP2.

Still, I do not like bugs. I'll have to try it out before I judge, though. But without hotseat support, I really wouldn't play it much, as I play with my father and step-brother all the time.

Got spare money?

CTP2 does have hotseat!!!

Check how to enable it in the question 22 of the CTP2 FAQ

The only problem is that if you send a diplomatic proposal to a human player the proposal is reponded as an AI player. Other than that you can enjoy CTP2 hotseat

re:Why dont you guys play CtP2? Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

A friend bought down CTP when he first bought it, he installed it on my pc to play and I hated it! For some reason I just didn't like it compared to Civ 2 hehe! 6 months on and I thought what the hell and bought it for myself. And this time I really got into it and became hooked.

Then along came CTP 2 I thought okay I'll get that - so I did but HATED it. Within 2 hours I put it back in the box. A couple of months later I got it back out for another try, still hated it! After one more try I gave the whole lot to the friend who introduced me to Ctp in the first place. In my view good riddance, for some reason I just didn't like anything about it. So I'm still playing the first...

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I play CtP 1 because I dont have enough money, I love it and in game magazine called Pelit CtP1 got 85p/100p
when CtP2 got only 72p/100p. And you say theres no space and PBEM-games in CtP II. Shame .

Actual modifications are the best thing you can do with a game, you start with modifying the colors00.txt and and continue elsewere.

I agree, and while a wee bit off topic, thats why I stay with CTP

I love modding my game and making scenarios!!

Although i am certainly not in your league Martin, I have some very pleasing Scenarios for Trolldom's Pleasure!!

I hope to get the hang of SLIC so I can make more triggers and such!!

I think an honest answer to this question is nostalgia. CtP is like Civ II compared to Civ III. Like a pair of old comfortable slippers.

That is an interesting thought, my first thought was that the difference between Civ2 and Civ3 is much bigger then it is with CTP1 and CTP2. But I only looked on the graphics, so if I forget the graphics then the difference between CTP1 and CTP2 is still smaller then between Civ2 and Civ3, but it is only sligtly.

Actually I have to comment this question abit better once I have finished my Civ marathon, but I assume I still then find the answer to be nostalgia.

I am TOTALLY in agreement, for when I say to myself.."Self"..go start another different game..I just cant and well, still get the most enjoyment out of CTP than any other game.

I am eyeing the new Candy-Cane coming up, RoN..as perhaps a sweet little treat though................

"Explain more blackice im very curious"

I have heard several europeans comment on this. The game is used as a teaching tool, politics, strategy, economics and of course pollution is all covered in this game.

In my small town lol some of the high school teachers use it as well for the same reason. Personally I can not think of another game so true to life in such a wide range of areas?

Any one?

Haven't played CTP in a long, long time. But if I remember correctly, I had to be more careful with my movement or I'd send a unit somewhere I didn't want it to go. And I am a fan of the "wheel interface". Much easier to use.

For me, its no CTP2, but a great game in its own right. May have to give it a spin again, if anything just to remember what its like.
