adaMada, I understand you wanted to hear my suggestion so here it is:

Phase one: acquire contact with the Japanese.
Babylon - We give: World Map. They give: Contact with Jap, WM, 2 gold.

Phase two: Metallurgy.
Rome - Buy Metallurgy in exchange for World Map, Contacts and Printing Press. Rome will pay additional gold so find the best gpt/cash deal.

Phase three: Physics.
Buy Physics in exchange for World Map, Contacts and Printing Press from the civ with which we can make the best deal.

Phase four: General "whoring".
After we're done with buying the techs, "whore" around our new tech, our WM and our contacts.

Bottom line: We get Metallurgy, Physics and successfully whore our new tech, our contacts and our WM for extra cash.

It's great how we can make up for our slow research with wise diplomacy!
Hopefully though, this GA will help us increase our own rate of research.

Try playing with the slider - with 40% Science we can make about 300Lpt and get Demo in about 16 turns, IIRC. For the first time we may be able to stand on our own feet for science!
