Random has now had the file for over 2 days
I tried mailing him but got some "505 error" back to my mail - is his mail still valid or has it changed

aryonis, maybe you should try contacting him or re-sending the save ? you atleast have a valid address for him beacuse you have been sending him the saves.

I haven't recieved the file back so I think that the address is still correct. I am maintaining the addresses on the first page so if anyone ever has any questions you can find the email addresses of everyone there at any time.

I would also like to please ask everyone that if you are going to be unavailable for more than 36 hours at any given time can you please let the rest of us know. I maintain a list of planned unavailability on the first post to help everyone plan their schedules accordingly. Then again, there are times when unexpected things come up and everyones patience is appreciated. Thanks everyone

Pass the turn unless he speaks up soon ? It has been nearly 2 days since the file was mailed to him by aryonis. I think we should implement the much used 48 or 72 hour rule to keep the game going, otherwise the interest will fade if we have to wait our turn for weeks.

Maybe 72 hours would be good, that would make full 3 days and nights, it should be sufficient time for everyone to make their turn.

What do others think about this ?

48 hours would suit me fine, but as i have the chanse to check my mail and play PtW every evening for few hours, so i dont know about you others situations, everyone might not be this lucky.

(48 or 72 hour rule = if you dont speak up within 48 or 72 hours of receiving the file, you will be automatically passed.)

I think the 48 hour rule is a splendid idea. Generally speaking, there is something seriously wrong if you haven't informed us in 48 hours as to your ability to take your turn. I would even go so far as to say a 36 hour rule. Simply by letting us know that you will be unavailable until such and such a time, will prevent your turn from being skipped. Any thoughts on this?

(The main reason I say this is I am only in one PBEM game - and I want to be in only 1 because I want to give it all my attention. Having these hold ups is frustrating because I really look forward to taking at least one turn per day. If someone is busy, I can totally be patient but checking 30 times to recieve no information becomes very disheartening.)

A person has contacted me who is interested in Subbing for Random. I am contacting Random to see if that is alright with him.

I'm OK with the 36 hour rule.

On a related note, I'm going to be out of town Feb 9-16 and March 13-18. I'll try to find a sub to keep things moving, but if anyone knows of someone who'd be willing, I'm open to suggestions. If I can't find a sub, I could probably set things up to run mostly automatically for a couple of turns (so that things could move forward some...) I have a suspicion I won't have contacted anyone in the game by then, so stopping the auto-turn if someone decides to pick on us poor Japanese is probably not an issue....

Three votes is good enough for me. The 36 hour rule is now in effect. If anyone has not taken their turn after 36 hours then they will be skipped. I will add it to the rules email when I get a chance.

Everyone, if there is any reason to believe that the next person will need to be skipped please send me a copy of the email. This way, I can skip it without having to request the current copy of the file. When in doubt, send it to me.

Also, a person has contacted me who would like to sub in for Random. I have asked Random if this is alright but I have not recieved a response. What should I do?

Oh, and one more thing. Everyone... :cough: tragicus :cough:... please post a reply to the thread informing everyone when the file is passed on. This is the only way I will have to track 36 hours so try not to forget.
