pollution Enter the AD-FREE zone

my whole enjoyment of civ 3 is ruined by pollution...

i hold off from discovering industrialisation as possible (to delay the huge increase in pollution).. then its a rush to get mass transit and recycling centres... then its a rush to get 4 workers to each pollution square to get rid of the pollution as quick as possible....

most times it just annoys me and i start a new game.....

any other way around it?

yeah, i do have them on standby (i think its shft-p), its the concept of pollution i have problems with.. i keep longing for the option that call to power 2 had.. where you could just switch the thing off.. wishful thinking...

it just feels like an eternity waiting to discover the mass tranist and recyclign....
