Yeah,
I'm ashamed about certain politicians, societal traits, certain political opinions some of my fellow Greeks have, some culture "products", the state of some things in some cities...
but not of my nationality.
And I'm not so much ashamed about those things as I am angry.
But I would not be ashamed whatever nationality I had.
Not being ashamed of your nationality does not mean you are not a citizen of the world (like ol' Plato used to say) or that you don't believe in the universalism of man.
It is the same as any other nationality anywhere. What matters is the indivindual; and democracy.

Some would say that you are in part responsible since you can shape (to a tiny degree? granted) the things your nationality does by participating in your countries politics/decisions.
So even though initial selection is uncontrolable, you still can have some responsibility for the "reputation" of your nationality since by definition you take part in your country's koina (life)..

No, I'm proud to be an American, although sometimes I'm very embarrassed, like for instance whenever I hear mawkish kitch like the song "I'm Proud to Be an American."
Despite a certain bunch of political leaders being morons and claiming temporary authority to misrepresent us, we are still a great exemplar of personal freedom and community, both things worth being proud of.

Being Russian too, esp. drunk Russian as I'm right now.
This thread is silly, no one will never admit that his nationality sucks. I just can't imagine this.

Well, my country's flag is my avatar at this time. That should answer the question.
