LulThyme
pronounced in French same as "L'ultime" The ultimate
almost noone notices even french speakers which is fun.
A few years ago (96 if im not mistaken) I was in a pharmacy, waiting for my name to be called with a friend, and I was saying it would be fun to take a real word and adding lots of useless letters like there are so many in French that wouldnt change the sound but make it almost unrecognizable.
There happened to be lots of those corny flaky love books, with titles such as "L'ultime passion" (or The Ultimate Passion) and red covers with a drawing of some hunky guy kissing a not-much dressed lovely lady, so that was my inspiration.
I used it on my fav BBS that evening and it has stuck since then (6 years ago now).

Its been really succesfull
I use Lul as a short for it (some of my rl friends who play a lot online with me even call me lul sometimes and yes i know it has a funny meaning in dutch)
and usually seperate it Lul Thyme, LulThyme, or Lul_Thyme depending on what kind of characters are allowed.
the seperation makes it even harder to notice the meaning for a French speaker
The only ppl who notice really are those who actually try to pronounce it assuming it is French (if u prounouce it as if it were english it doesnt work)

Chill name, smoove. I got my name after hearing an Onion audio segment, being interested by a new word I heard, and deciding to find out what it meant.

Love this thread, except that I'm very disappointed that Loinburger is actually just a hamburger.

Kassiopeia, don't change your name, it has an excellent ring to it.

redbull, is that your favourite drink?

As for MattyBoy, it's a nickname I picked up while playing D&D with my older brother and his friends. Fatty and MagnumFlatty somehow didn't work as well for me and Batman was taken.

I called myself mafia for quake II
it was taken when i ttried to set up e-mail accounts, so I changed it to newmafia or neomafia
then after getting stoned as hell, and becoming a felon, I questioned my sanity, and wondered if I was somehow trying to carry out some alter ego.
So I changed it to NeOmega.... mostly because spelling it NeO with O being the omega symbol would look cool in my opinion.

Got spare money?

What a sad, sad story...

It was the name I used for an elven conjurer back in 2nd edition D&D. His name was Lorizael Lomaut, master of the Grease Spell (and creator of the spell, Lorizael's Grease). He was my favorite character, though now my favorite character is Theces Pyorial, a somewhat less heroic person than Lorizael was.

Anyhow, I always thought the name was very creative so I used it for everything and really loved the name. Couple months ago I was reading the second edition Eldar Codex from Warhammer 40,000 and lo and behold, there's a one page story fragment with a single mention of an Eldar Guardian named Lorizael.

Apparently my mind remembered the name, and when I was looking for a cool sounding elven name (Eldar are just Space Elves, basically), it pulled this from the deep recesses of my memory. So sad... I was so disappointed. Best name I'd ever invented...

So I think I'll probably start using Theces Pyorial and Zirectiliac (character from a novel I'm writing) instead of Lorizael, but I don't know, I still like the name.

Hmm, I wrote far too much for the little that I actually said.

When my cousin and I were younger we used to dabble in Visual Basic...we'd make games and pretend like we were going to have a company one day and market them. We called ourselves "Orange Software" because we hated Macs. When I first got AOL I had to pick a username, and this was about the same time we picked a company name, so I picked OrangeSoftware...only it was a maximum 10 characters...so i went with every other letter of Software and got...

Orange Software --> OrangeSfwr

I had it as my name for most everything, but people kept spelling it wrong or calling me "Swiffer" so I shortened it for simplicities sake...

OrangeSfwr --> orange

it's what most people called me anyway...orange...

With me, it's sort of obvious. Ernesto "Che" Guevara was one of the leaders of the Cuban revolution is a hero to millions of youth around the world. Che, btw, is ponounced, "shay."

Chegitz is a Yiddish word, pronounced "shay-getz." When said about a gentile, it means thug, a**hole. My Jewish comrades, being the great people they were, decided one day to start insulting me in Yiddish. When they got to shaygetz, my creativity kicked in. I said, "Shaygetz? Shaygetz Guevara, yeah, that's the ticket." My comrades groaned. Soon after I got a job at the school computer lab and I wanted a psuedonym for my email, so I transliterated shaygetz to chegitz, to make the phonetic pun visual.

Hmm...

Started with 'Garlic' when my brother spontaneously said "Hey, garlic" when he meant to say "Hey, Eric". I don't understand either.

I then tagged Captain onto it when playing the original Team Fortress (for quake I), but one day misspelled it as Capitan. I was tired, but decided that the change was for the best.

The next thing to change was the spacing: I decided that Capitan Garlic was too much effort to type when compared to CapitanGarlic.

I've since kept it, because I know that no one will be insane(stupid)enough to try and steal this handle. It's one way to be sure that I'm unique.

I lived on the street for most of my teenage years 14-20, where everyone uses a nickname. One summer when I was around 16 I got scabes really bad (quite hard to get rid of when you live on the street. I got them so bad I had scabs all over my hands, and my shoulders. I was the a lot younger then most of the other people I lived on the street with, and that summer everyone started calling my Blister boy. Then It got shortened to Blister.

A friend of mine met a girl and decided to move accross the country with her, so he showed me how to set up an e-mail account at the library so I could keep in touch him. When I tried Blister for my Hotmail log in, it was taken. So I tryed a few things, the first to not be taken was Blisterz. I have been using it ever since every time I need a log in name on the internet.

I am expecting at least one "ewwwwwwww"
