I don't think so. There are a lot of HOMM fans here, but there aren't many threads about it and Mark and Dan ask for quite a high level of participation for a new forum (witness the Story forum plea in Community).

If we get a couple of new HOMM threads every day then we should ask for a new forum. But we'll never get that many, so...

I though about it... but there really isn't that much to talk about HOMM-wise In fact, we nearly have as many posts on HoMM III here as the boards at celestial heavens have (actually we have more ) but that's not much considering- sadly, there isn't too much to discuss, unless we want to organize a scenario-competition Like H3Trio had

...Anyone want to do that?

If we did that, then perhaps the amount of threads would warrant a fora

Exactly.
I loved the game, and I enjoyed the strategy/balance of it, but the strategy doesn't warrant discussion in the same way as, say, Civ2 or SMAC.

The forum would be one of those forums that you visit each day and are disappointed to find that nobody has found anything to post about. i.e: a waste of time. At least in Other Games you have an audience.

At this point the only HOMM discussion going on is whether or not it needs a forum. I think it is probably a great game and something that I would love to discuss when I get it this Christmas but there is not enough traffic on this site to justify it.


Edit: Never mind, it appears you guys are going for the forum and have created a number of new discussions. I guess if there are enough responses to it, I would be in favor of it.

Well, we have had about on average, for the past 3 months- 1 thread a week Therefore: we have about 12-15 threads on it within 3 months old (or so I estimate)...Almost enough, but not quite- If we could manage 10-40 active threads over 2 monhths- then we could possibly win a petition! (At least that's what I think it took Earth 2025 to get their fora )

I'm sure that Darkcould can come up with a good map for it (well, in the matter of a fact I do allready have a good map for it.)

you just have to click nex turn - next turn - next turn.....
nothing else.
and then you can save it, and have so many rematches as you like.

Yes I have ICQ... but I don't use it since my firewall usually erupts in errors when I use it allegedly someone tries to hack into my computer when I use ICQ... but AIM has no errors

At h3trio.com they have some battle maps. In fact, hte battle maps are quite famous... they had competitions for over a year- and over 50 people participated!

DC: about tweeking that H3 Arena scenario. how do you disable some spells(summon boat)? and how do you add
text to the beginning of the scenario?
