Perhaps we should have representatives, or Ambassadors, if you like, for dealing with the other teams. This interaction would be limited ATM until there is in-game contact, limited less until an embassy is established and/or we are connected to them. But, for the time being, these spokespersons would have to keep tabs on the other teams as much as possible, and were there to be any further contact as we have made with Legoland, it would be under the purview of these Ambassadors to ensure what needed to be done was actually done.
To go OT for a moment, perhaps we need to determine what our initial policies are towards the other teams, based only upon what we know of their members, stated and implied objectives and game style, civ strengths (especially UU timing and usefulness), and how much we think we can trust them.
Naturally Legoland is an ally of sorts already, and from their stated style, building, I believe we will face little immediate threat from them except in the way of missing out on terrain, resources and WoWs.
Glory of War cannot just be about war, as that tactic would finish them off early on, against either the AI or a likely coalition of other teams, eager to prevent them reaching some early dominance. We need to be vigilant against them, and be prepared to identify their schemes as not just military.
Lux Invicta will certainly be doing this very analysis right now, as I imagine with Trip as a leader, he will be starting threads like this willy-nilly. These guys will be devious in their tactics, and will likely not rule out conflict or cooperation with anyone, even the formerly named "Trash Trip's Ass" team!
Gathering Storm also has some devious characters, and I think thes guys may be the biggest threat right off the bat. I can somehow see a Cold War style stand off between them and one other group early on, before the rest catch up.
I cannot currently look at the members and civ choices of each team, but when I do so later I will post a slightly better analysis.

1. Togas already intends to appoint an ambassador to each other human civ once we make contact with them.
2. Go check out the "The Other Teams: An Assessment" thread. That has both my and many other tribe members' thoughts on just the questions you have asked. I'll bump the thread for you
