	Which Civ (again!) Get a bigger avatar today!

As most of you probably know we had a game of RPS with the Roleplay team to decide who gets Carthage (our initial first choice). The RP team won but they are as yet undecided if they are going to take Carthage. Since we have new members I think its fair to Poll again on a few civs that would suit us well. Any other suggestions are welcome.

I think we should post our second choice as well as the first choice : it's still possible we want Carthage (it won by a fair margin the first time), and should the roleplayers want it too, we'd have to stick with our second choice.

Since Carthage is out of the picture and I'm sick of playing the Egyptians (although arguably the 2 best traits to have), I'd like to suggest the Ottomans. What?! Well, they are Industrious which is a builders dream trait and they've got the Sipahi unique unit. That unit is Kick-*** when it comes out.

I think it would be a really cool civ to play (been using it for sp).

problem with that is someone already pick ottomans i believe, but we can still get Carthage, but we have to make a deal with the roleplayers.

I beleive so I think we're getting carthage, we made a very agreeable deal with the RP team for it.

Question: why is Chartage so popular? I mean, I don't have PtW and thus didn't play with them, but wasn't commercial a weaker trait? Scientific or Religious seems better to me.

If it was already decided, OK, I'm just curious about the motivation.

Edited: Is the Numidian Mercenary the reason?

Numidian Mercenary is one of the major reasons why we pick Carthage.

Also I have played Carthage, and they are a really good civ to be for a builder.

Commercial is an excellent trait since 1.29 (and probably the best trait in the late game), because it now really reduces corruption. Granted, it won't be extremely useful at the beginning of the game, because our empire won't be huge (however, if we create a dense net of cities, it might be useful), but it will decidely halp as soon as we expand our empire.

Industrious rocks

The numidian Merc is really the reason : the pther teams will think of us as pushovers, and we need a good early defense. We have Numidian Merc from the beginning or almost, it's better than the pikeman without requiring Iron. Basically, the merc gives us a way to survive without Iron until the age of gunpowder.

And, in all truth, I find the Merc to be pretty effective right up through Riflemen. Musketmen are nice and all, but it's much cheaper to build a massive wall of Mercs, and just as effective in most cases.

My first post in the forum! Woohoo!

I'm torn between Egypt (Great attributes, but the UU won't really help defend us), Greece (not so great but awesome UU), and Carthage (good stats and UU, but it sounds like we'll need to pay for it).

I really want to say Greece, but that would mean foregoing industrious. Argh. How bad do you all think that would really be?

Since this is my first post as well:

Hi everyone !

For curiousity I would prefer one of the new PTW civs.

My first choice would have been the Ottomans, due to their scientific trait along with the vital Industrialist trait.

But since that is taken, I would say Carthage or Egypt would be fine.

Admittedly though the Egyptian UU is not very useful and I wonder whether having a golden age that early might be very productive.

If our builder strategy plans come to fruition, we will be a major shield and commerce power by the middle ages and industrial eras and a golden age then would be really productive!

My only concern about dealing for Carthage with the role-playing team is the possibility that they are "playing" with us - that they really have selected another civ and are trying to get what they can from us at no cost to them...

That being said, the deal seems fair , but only if they are willing to also not declare war on us by 1000 AD as well.

I vote for Carthage or Ottoman. I'm leaning for Ottoman because their UU is great offensive weapon. Also because they are new.

Carthage is great with their new UU. Either one would be good. If we are worried about early defense; Carthage would be the logical choice.

I voted for Carthage (I conservative by nature) and second is Ottoman.
