Does anyone know how the game determines what you find in a pod? The one thing I *know* is that it's sure as hell not completely random. I think it'll give you units if you don't have very many units, a base if you don't have very many bases, etc. Also, it seems like I find more resource bonuses inside a city's radius. Also, has anyone read the SMAC novel? Is it any good?
