Map settings: maximum number of cities threshold Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

One thing, while doing the map settings had not been covered are the maximum number of cities per government.

As we are playing on a non-standard map, being Gigantic, we might want to change the govern.txt file to adapt to the map-size.

If you are happy with the default size, just vote No, don't change.

Otherwise choose the percent you would like to see in place as a change.

For people not in the possession of CTP2 some explanations:

Each government has a limit on the number of cities you can have, before getting additional unhappiness.

For example, Tyranny, with which we start allows a maximum of 10 cities to be owned by the player (Human/Computer).
This number changes with the government (Monarchy doubles it to 20).

So if you vote (i.e.) 20%, this would mean that it would allow Tyranny to support 12 cities without extra unhappiness (24 for Monarchy).

Also keep in mind we have 70% landmass.

I think I have to mention some more things about hapiness/unhapiness for the non-CTP2 owners (buh , get out and get it )

75 % of hapiness is considered normal, having no penalties.
> 75% just creates hapiness, but doesn't produce extra whatever
<75% and cities might revolt, therefore hapiness needs to be kept => 75%.

Unhapiness is created in many ways:
Overpopulation
War Unhapiness
Empire Size (the threshold what this is all about)
Pollutuion
slider-effects (value above default for government, food/work/gold, each count extra, meaning i.e. -1 for food.......)
and maybe some others (can't remember).

The Empire Size unhapiness is a strong factor, each city above creates unhapiness. When I remember right for Tyranny every 2 cities create 1 unhapiness. This can only be offset by buildings and/or sliders ( and/or entertainers).

I hope it helps you to decide what to choose

Put an end to popups!

I voted dont change because alot of the difficulty later on is managing the size of your empire.

At least know 10 people voted meaning we have our 1/3......

Just a question if we still have to have a run-off poll for the most voted options? Or if we take the median again???????

Maybe on the one hand we could raise the city threshold by 10% as we are playing on a gigantic map. But on the other hand the default settings will make things more difficuilt and as people here like challenges, I like to see how we will manage it. So I guess we have to accept the rhules of the selected mod, and that are the settings of the default game in this respect. And as I won't have time to release a new version of GoodMod before Chrismas, there won't be any changes of the rhules and actual there won't be a rhule change in this respect. Actual if you don't like the number of cities allowed by a certain government then we have to play with another mod and that would be GoodMod for ApolytonPack Ultra Gigantic maps. Map type gigantic.

By the way you need in GoodMod for ApolytonPack a happiness level of 73 in order to avoid riots, as I started to use my own const.txt, before Dale changed this. And in my opion it doesn't help the game balance if I raise the minimun happiness level, because it hurts the AI more then the human.

The reason why I asked this, was that the AI is getting better away with 'smaller' cities, but a shugar()-lot of them......

I actually wanted to improve with this mainly the AI...........(or better to say help him.........)

But never mind......... I'll go with the majority............

Even if I tried my best I only saw the AI conquering the human civilisation. So you might see a lot of cities that change hands. But with such many AIs on the map it is more likely that all AIs will be on the same level with the same number of cities aproximatly.

I had one game (recently), SAP, where one AI nearly ate three other empires, but kind of had to stop, as it wasn't able to control the unhapiness anymore..........

Had a hard time chewing this one down..........

Gilgamensch, sorry for not aswering your question before, but i was the first one to vote. I voted even before the you

My vote was 50%. But I voted with fear of what would happen if one person with the original mod (that didnt know about how to implement this change) loaded the saved game with the different setting.
But be aware that people tend to be conservative. What not always is a bad thing. Probably "No, don't change" was the best choice not to scare newbies.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Talking about this,

I only realised two days after opening the poll, that I didn't vote

And for newbies: Best way to learn how to modify the games to fit their own demands

That's at least, how I learned a lot of things
