You missed an option. It is not available in Europe yet. Once it is, I will buy it at the first opportunity.

Buy it Now! Its a great game, even though it is buggy.....
If you can manage to get it up and running it will provide hours of sheer pleasure......the bugs you can always go around them.....
Its not the complete ultimate game yet but it is the best out there already in terms of enjoyment

Civilization 3 was a largely rushed product requiring numerous patches and while it is now playable, the fundamental mechanics of the game are those that I do not find enjoyable and therefore will not be purchasing Play the World or any other additions for Civ3.
However even if I were a fan of Civ3 I still would be extremly cautious when deciding whether to purchase PtW or not as there seems to be a disturbing trend in game developers today where there is an obvious inclination to simply rush a game and then release it (PtW is a very good example of this). I find it very irritating when I purchase a game only to find it completly unplayable and requiring a patch to make it so I can play it. There used to be a time where you could just buy the game and play it without having to download patches. What has happend to those times? Companies have become so obsessed with money that they've forgotten how to make a quality product. And obviously Infogrames and Firaxis have been bitten by this little bug and therefore my purchases from those companies will be thoroughly researched before made.
But don't misunderstand me thinking that I'm just another Firaxis-basher because this is affecting MANY game developers and is by no means limited to Firaxis which is completly unfortunate as I see so many games with such great potential all of them completly wasted because of the desire to simply make money. We've become a society that doesn't buy a game but we buy a name and thats quite a few of the times all we get is just a name, not a game. At least not until a few patches...
Anyway, but I don't like Civ3. Period. And some people do like PtW and as I always say, whatever rocks their boat is fine by me.

I haven't bought it yet because I'm not clear on whether or not the SP experience is as buggy as the MP experience seems to be.
Is PtW working OK as a single player game?

I'll wait until it's cheaper. Like someone mentioned before, I am hesitant to buy an addition that SHOULD have come with the $60.00 I spent the first time around. I just dusted off CIV3 a few weeks ago and started playing it again.
