Military Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

There is a long military tradition in Spain, so I suggest that we find in the spanish history names of military units ; as each unit can be renamed in PTW, we could have our entire army made of units with spanish names.

Example : all pikemen would be named Tercios, with a number: 1st Tercios, 2nd Tercios etc.

What do you think ?

I think it's a great idea. It would certainly add to the appeal of our magnificent empire.

We should make the time during our 24 hours with the save to rename the new units. It will make giving orders for each unit much much easier.

If we end up doing massive turnchats where several moves are done in a day, the renaming will not be done at that time. It will be done at a later time when we have the opportunity.

In order to make that easy to use and control, we could have a kind or *order of battle* showing for each type of unit the names and numbers already assigned, and the next 2 or 3 to be assigned.

Put an end to popups!

Pretty good idea, Senor Juan de Torquemadas. Being myself a fond friend of the military (having served briefly until a grievous wound involving a rubber band and my pinky forced my resignation), and a financier of our glorious Lord Togas on the field of battle, I am pleased to see the improvement of our military.

AS Governor of the hut-village of Madrid, i request more protection.

May the strongest man of each tribe protect the good huts of my City, from the evil animal beasts who walk around it.

Here here! I humbly request permission from his Lordship,
the despot enthroned,
the great Lord Togas,
master of Iberia,
to be given permission to raise,
out of my own pocket (through squid money),
a band of warriors,
strong and agile,
our best soldiers,
fast as the wind,
hard as the stone,
equipped with the finest axe,
trained in the ancient arts of war,
as taught by the ancient Lord Togas I,
at the dawn of Iberia,
in the first age of man.

Is that clear?

Indeed, the first order of business in our new town of Madrid should be the training of our toughest young men to be the first company of "warriors" of what will undoubtedly one day be the glorious Spanish Empire.

But who shall have the honor of being the one to train these forces and, upon completion of their training, be their leader?

I would hope that the immediate concern of the garrisoned wariors would be that of the governor. In time of war, of course, I could see a war-chief taking the helm.

Governor Ninot,

Why must we necessarily assume that the first warrior will be placed on garrison duty rather than sent out exploring? I would think that both are plausible options which should be debated by the wisemen of the tribe. For if a second set of warriors is to be trained immediately after the first has completed its training, the timing will likely still be exceedingly short enough that there is no risk - but we would get a few extra centuries of exploration out of that first set of warriors.

It's a possibility we should at least discuss.

I'm for using this first warrior for exploration as well; there should be no threat early enough to prevent us from gaining a better knowledge of our surroundings.

Upon the founding of the first city I trust that we will all meet there and begin the work of establishing our civilization, and I agree that our security is extremely important. I am not satisfied nor do I feel secure with our standard warrior ways. I have heard rumors that some tribes use Bronze to fashion excellent weapons. We must learn these ways.

Therefore, upon the founding of our first city, I intend to send out several bands of volunteer warriors to seek out other tribes and villages, to make contact and try to learn new skills which will help our fledgling nation grow. I also intend that these volunteers will find new sites for us to found cities.

Upon the discovery of this new fashion of weapon, I will make it the first order to create a group of bronse warriors to defend our first city.

GK here. Me say first build a special hut for training of our warriors. Will be very usefull to have experienced men first thing, particularly with those crazed wood throwing barbarians around.....

what say you?

I don't know, sirs, but it seems to me as if Senor GodKing has not yet been given a copy of our new 'Rock Dictionary'. Yes, in it we have all of the words of the Iberian language, which was given to us at the dawn of time, 4000 BC, when our Visigoth and Iberian ancestors first began to get together and make us a whole new civilization! Yes, this language is the envy of the world, and it is sold by History Guy Calamari Press (right from the quarries), which is financed by a certain unnamed Squid Company.

As for the militia unit which we will raise, I suggest that we use it for defense of the borders until a spearman (or a second warrior) can be provided. As of this first unit, I have taken it upon myself to raise the money for it's funding from the squid trade, and have decided to put forward an official designation for it...the 1st Light Squid Warrior Regiment!! How's that? Huh? Huh?

Signed in squid ink...

Good sir Arnelos, I think you were not completely listening when I was speaking.

I never had any intentions of hindering our plans for exploration. I merely ask that when Madrid does start up its own defensive efforts, I be given command of those soldiers who dwell in Madrid.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Thank you for clarifying the matter of my confusion, good Governor Ninot. May Madrid see great prosperity under the stewardship of Supreme Leader Togas and yourself as his Governor for Madrid.
