	DIPLO: Ambassador sign-up Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Provided we have enough support here, we may be able to assign 1 (and possibly 2) human civs per Ambassador.

So those who in the Diplomacy Schola wish to represent the Gathering Storm as Ambassadors to foreign nations, sign up here!

I suppose listing your top three choices would suffice.

Lets wait just another day or so before we begin anything official (or unofficial).

As is stands, unless there are no more volunteers here, I could probably say that we all get our first choices for sure. That means that as far as we know right now,
alva848 is ambassador to Lux Invictica, Zeit is ambassador to Glory of War, and I am ambassador to Roleplay team.

That leaves Legoland and Jon Millers Team, and possibly the German demogryptica team if they can sort themselves out in time for the game.

I would be more than happy to take on Legoland as an additional Ambassadorial responsibility, that is if there are no protests from the rest of the ambassadors?

One more day or maybe two and we'll give it the GO for establishing first contact with the humans, unless anyone thinks we should wait longer? shorter?

Alas since I've moved from Germany I haven't used it at all, and have thus forgotten much of the dialogue. I'm not native German, I only lived there for 5 years. ... The German Team seems to have good translators though.

I'd hope that ALL pm's are in english at the very least!

perhaps someone may act as translator should the need for one arise?

Note to self, maybe I should change my flag to what it should be to prevent further confusion....

Good thinking alva, the other teams will give the ambassadors proper respect when they will be personally approved and introduced by our respected leader.
I also want to suggest that an information exchange will be sorted out between the ambassadors and the team's representative, which includes the following:

1)Full members list
2)Structure of the government/executive branch/major power holders
3)civ choice

What do you think, can you approve that?

Mesh, my flag is the Solomon Islands', And i doubt the people there even heard of Civ 3. I just picked it 'cause it looks pretty cool and I hardly think many recognize it, and it looks pretty nice, so i guess i don't confuse anyone...

Sounds good. those points are good ways to open diplomatic relations with another team.

But #1. we already know their member list, so it may be better to ask "who are your ministers, your leaders? Who runs the military? your economy?" general information like that. They can refuse to answer that if they want.

Asking about their form of government, how they've decided to run things is good.
Their civ choice is also an alright question to ask them, although before game time I think they're required to announce their civ anyways...

The information that could be good to include in a diplomatic exchange is:

1. Tell them who our leaders are.
2. Tell them about how we run our government (through a Scholia or set of 'state-run schools')

Or any other type of introduction you can think of. It might be a good idea to not overwhelm their ambassadors with long-winded speeches or anything (although I'm known to do that from time to time, on accident), but just a simple straitforward hello at first. Just dip the toe in the water a bit.

I was rockin' the Albanian flag because I thought it looked really cool, red background with a black dragon (or eagle, I can't tell with the small size) in the foreground.

I'm probably going to change my flag again for no real reason.

Re: a German ambassador: I don't vote for SR here, unless he is going to be in the diplo school as well. It would seem too obvious, certainly when no German is spoken. It would be a very good thing if he was prepared to take some of the intelligence on him, though

And I understand it quite well too, but don't intend to try writing it, Germans would think it silly.

Further, I've been thinking on it, and even if I said otherwise at first, maybe I can take on an ambassador role as well, as long as someone else can cover for me when times are too busy. If so, my prefered choice would be the legos, I think I know what makes them tick.

Re: provided information: don't expect them to give anything unless we give something first. A nice document on our government structure would be acceptable, but if it is too generic people will find out themselves as well (or think it should be posted on the general forum). Reports on Civ choice will be only a very small carrot for all of them...

There have to be a few other groundrules here: we have to make clear that what we say to them, and what they say to us is confidential. If we suspect that they are using something we gave them to sell it to another party, it should make for a nice diplomatical crisis. We on the other hand should never share information we have gotten from one of them either, it would not be a honorable thing to do.

And an idea for something that might spark their interest early on: why don't we make a screen shot of our starting position before we settled (so only the 9 tiles in view), and when the time is ripe try to sell them that, instead of a territory map. It is tricky to perform, but would be something that is worth some cash, without having to give them something very costly. And it can be sold / given without an embassy.

DeepO Legoland was my second choice, yet I'm willing to 'give' the ambassadorship to you. I would then act as your backup in case you can't make it, which would only take a PM to let me know a little ahead of time if possible.
You could just mention my name in your initial communication, to let them know they may be dealing with one other person, not just you...

seems like this issue was approved (at the election run-up thread), so Mesh can officialy declare the ambassadors and NYE can start making those introduction messages.

Ok. Now proclaiming TERM 1 Government. All ambassadors accounted for : Zeit, alva848 and myself. Sir Ralph has neither replied nor agreed to being Demogyptica (german) ambassador, so I will not add him until he mentions to do so.

I think you're forgetting DeepO & Dominae.

They didn't really make a choice, but did mention there were willing to be an ambassador. Only Zeit and yourself have made an actual team choice

Well, Meshelic, if you don't mind, I'll go for the legos. But really, if you have a special thing for them, I'll gladly take someone else (I'm just not that thrilled about the GoW, they look like backstabbing to me, a ambassadors nightmare). If the legos are final, I'll gladly have you as my backup, as it will be needed from time to time.
