Can't it be both our symbol AND meal?

Its is an ambiguous symbol and a very dangerous meal (depends too much on the origin).

They are a simbol AND a meal! The squid represents the flesh of hte spanish, and their will to fight (ever seen how a squid bravely resists to the cooking pot?) and the wine that feeds them represents the blood of our ancestors and our very blood too!!!!
When we discover an harmonious way of organizing the sounds of flutes into a sort of a way (wich I shall call theory) of music, we may just make the Spanish national anthem be called O´ mighty squid!

The squid will not be our national symbol so long as I am in power. We EAT Squid. We catch it, kill it, cook it up and eat it. It does not represent strength, subterfuge, or even Spain, it represents a meal.
I am fond of bread and wine and a large chunk of slow roasted beef. Should these also be the symbols of Spain??

So it is written, so it is done. The next is set to a catchy tune from "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"....
"Its a certain responsibility,
to be the number one lawmaker - he,
so, let it be known, throughout the land, from sea to sea,
they'll be no more squid talking to the king (despot)."
Viva Espana! (and Las Vegas, too)

Did I not hear that some wise ancient American with glasses proposed that the turkey be the symbol of America? The symbol of India is the elephant, which is used for carrying people. And the Canadian symbol is a beaver, which for the longest time was used to make hats. So you can have a symbol which is also an economic resource. In fact, to have such demonstrates the high practicality of a people, and it is the practical people that wins a civ game.

Why, I have never said that the squid should be the symbol of Spain. In fact, as far as I recall, Ninot has been the only one to mention anything to that effect. However, I am honored by the idea, but what Togas says is the last word in everything, and I am honored by his mere glance in the direction of my squid factory. The squid is a wonderful animal, and a tasty meal, a symbol of endurance and heroism, yes, but not the Spanish people. The Spanish people need no symbol. They are what they are. The greatest people on Earth.

I am confused! Squid is both a symbol and a food! As such, I'll vote 0 times and the 0 votes for Symbol will cancel out the 0 votes for Meal.
Ow...my brain hurts...
