Where is the PTW equivalent of civ3mod.bic? Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

In the Civ3 directory is a civ3mod.bic. When double clicked the editor comes up and I can edit all the base rules of the game with no map or anything. Then every game I start after that uses those rules. (Not consistantly of course but it worked with some careful quit-starting and mutteres incantations.)

I want to do the same thing for PTW. But there is no equivalent file for PTW. Anything I can do? How else can I make corruption tolerable on large maps?

It's called civ3x.bix. DO NOT CHANGE THIS! Seriously. Make a scenario and play it instead. No muttering or incantations needed.

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Listen to Warpstorm.

Also, if you do go into the editor, just because the map editor displays doesn't mean you have to have a map. I always go into the editor, then just open your mod and use the "Rules" drop down menu to edit just the rules.

Okay thanks. I should of seen the .bix when looking for .bic, oops.

So what's the problems with editing civ3x.bix? The thing I liked about editing the civ3mod.bic was that I didn't have to keep making scenarios, it affected all (well you know, not all...) new games I played.

Keep a clean copy of the original, just in case.

Unless you like to reinstall the whole game, since modifying the original can cause problems if something gets messed up.

Plus every time Firaxis releases a patch they will overwrite it.

I just play a scenario for nearly every game to get the changes I want. It's just as easy, more flexible, and I don't have to worry about clobbering important files.

Enter the AD-FREE zone

The disadvantage to always playing scenarios is no HoF scores, which don't bother me personally. I typically only play terrain only mods myself, until I find the one I am looking for to change to permanently.

Full PM-box? Change here!

The rumor is mucking with the rules for the main game keeps it from being added to the HOF also.

Put an end to popups!

Hmm.. Points taken. Thanks guys.

Modifying the rules in classic Civ3 didn't prevent me from being added to the HoF. It will be a real quick test to see if this is the same or not for PTW.

The only point of playing is the HoF!! I still don't know what the highest rating is, only the second highest.

All I normally change is just increase the number of cities on each map size because of the horrible corruption.

Ack! The rumour is true! Any games played with a modified civ3mod.bix will not be recorded int he HoF. That sucks.

I restored the original civ3mod.bix and new games showed up in the HoF just like normal. Loaded games started with a modified civ3mod.bix will not show in the HoF even after restoring the original.

Bummer.

Well, you can load in someone else's map (using import)or set it to build a random one. The only problems I had were when I imported a map into a scenario that doesn't support the features of the map (say there are additional resources on the map).
