As I remember, one problem is essentially the "bandwidth" of nerve trunks in the extremities - really tall giants have very poor sensory and motor response in their lower legs, and a bunch of other symptoms (vascular system isn't evolved for pumping blood that far back up to the heart, etc.).

IIRC, he died rather nastily, from an infection (blood poisoning or gangrene or something fun like that was the result) in his foot caused by a badly fitting leg brace rubbing his skin raw.

My neighbor, who is from Switzerland I think, is at least 6'7" tall. I feel like a runt when I'm around her and I'm 5'11"! It's weird...really weird. She is very thin and gangly. When she hangs out with my other neighbor, who is about 5 foot nothing, it makes for a very odd scene. They walked into our wedding reception and the combination of tall neighbor, short neighbor and something about the room design made her look like she was 10' tall.
She's also a radical leftist lesbian, which is rather annoying.
