Not all the teams have official representation yet, and the game's organizer, Trip, also is not online - so I doubt things will get started quickly.

I don't know technically what a net split is - but it drops IRC connections.
History Guy - Here is a IRC primer from the Civ3 Demo game. Use the closest Undernet server you can find, the channel is #civ3rp, and the password is Migros.
If you can't attend much today, that's fine, but you'll need this information for subsequent chats.
