	Legoland private chatroom / password Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

If there is a private chatroom for our team set up, it is most probably named Legoland and the password is HisBrickness. Click on the Apolyton chat link, select the java version (agree to whatever it wants from you), fill in your details and use /JOIN #Legoland HisBrickness on the chat commandline to enter the chatroom.

In case it happens again that we need to set up a private chatroom and there is nobody skilled with mIRC, I am posting here a simple guide on the topic. Mind you, I am a real newbie to this stuff, so if there is anybody more skilled, feel free to correct me.

2. download mIRC from http://www.mirc.co.uk/get.html and install it on your machine
   
3. run it - a dialog box appears; click Add to add a new chat-server. Use whatever for the description, and Apolyton.net for the server address. Fill in the rest of the personal details just the way you do when joining the Apolyton java chatroom. After you get rid of this part, select the Connect item from the File menu. A new chat window should open and you should connect to the Apolyton server.
   
4. use /LIST to display the list of chatrooms; make sure the name you want to use for the new chatroom is not there.
   
5. use /JOIN #chatroomname (like /JOIN #Legoland) to create the chatroom - you will get a message like "Now talking in #chatroomname."
   
6. right-click the new chatroom window. Tick Key and fill a password in (for Legoland chatrooms, the preferred password is HisBrickness). Tick Private and then OK.
   
7. ...and that's it. You should be done!

Update: Nimitz kindly fixed a problem with the password being reset/cleared after the last member present left the room. Currently, the Legoland private chatroom is set up and will not be destroyed if becoming empty. Beware: it does not show up on the list displayed by the /list command anymore... but it is there anyway.

I would like to ask everybody to try visiting the chatroom, first by /join #Legoland (to verify the password is necessary to get in), then by /join #Legoland HisBrickness. Note: for some reason, I am able to get in without specifying the password... it just sort of specifies itself automatically... Nimitz, could you explain how the actual password checking progress works for us, please?

I'm also able to get in without the password. Not only that, but the password is mentioned when I enter! (second time I've used that smilie tonight...)

I suggest we use a password other than "HisBrickness" for our private channel, so we aren't putting all our passwords in one basket, so to speak.

I am not sure if Nimitz did something to make the room recognize us automatically...? But yes, it is a reasonable idea to change the chatroom password. I will try to do something about it later today.

I initially used the same password, so that we would not have to remember too many of them...

ok I see the prob the chanserv is activating the stuff after you get in so its not password protected untill there in.

It is now invite only no password the guy who is op now has to invite everyone in that should solve our problems If you want in just dcc chat the op for the chat.

Update I'm going to try some new stuff in protecting the channel it will only let people I register as a member in the channel, you'll have to register your nick with this code /msg nickserv NICK REALE-MAIL PASSWORD. Then PM me with a time you'll be on IRC and your nick and I'll Register you but you have to be on when I do it or it wont let me. Thank you for your coporation.

Nimitz, this is great! I was thinking of the same, but couldn't get to it (lack of time). I believe that this is exactly what we need: a chatroom that lets only our (pre-registered) members in. Besides, when everybody registers his nick, we will not run into the same security problem as on that Sunday night... Thanks!
