stacked units Increase the size of your Attachments

As you know you can bribe units when you're not in Democracy - except when they're stacked. I prefer to stack a military unit together with a diplo/spy (no shield support for the diplo ).
And I like to explore the world with diplos: Stacked diplos cannot be expelled ....
A trireme with some unit on it cannot be bribed: They count as stacked units, too (I suppose so).
And I like the "attack stack":
Take a transport with 2 engineers an 6 howitzers.
The two engineers build an instant fortification where the howitzers can be landed. If possible, shield the whole stack with a bomber ...
If there's a railroad connecttion between my cities and the enemy city, I build several of those fortified attack stacks.
Other ideas?

The ultimate stack.

The XIN YU X-pack.
And as stated in the gl, not for the feint of heart.

Unfortunately I can't remember how to make the links in the GL index work.

Stacking just makes too much sense since the AI has been known to cheat and bribe units using non-diplos/non-spies. And it's always a good idea to have a few settler/eng. and diplo/spies in your offensive battle groups.

Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

Stacking bombers with AEGIS cruisers is a good move, if the game has progressed that far. Battleship/AEGIS/Bomber stack is helpful - plus you get the fun of picking off the cruise missiles that 'hang' next to the stack

The AI loves to stack ships... if they do it more than one square away from shore, you have the only worthwhile reason to build nukes

The X-pack is a great example of how much Xin figured out about this game... but it's huge overkill against the AI!

Oh, and ironically, the carrier is the only ship that can't benefit from 'Air cover' - i.e. being stacked with a bomber. Unless, I guess, you moved 9 bombers to the carrier's location.

This assumes a carrier supports 8 aircraft... it might be 10? Been so long...

I used to try to work out a strategy whereby I could support more than 8 (10?) bombers with 1 carrier, having (8) flying and (8) on the carrier, ideally. This was way back before I realized carriers were totally unnecessary in CivII. But, I imagine you could work it so that 9 bombers are always in the ship square and 7 are attacking, much like an X-pack.

The AI was always hilarious with aircraft Carriers. Since it rarely builds them, you have to give some to them to see the how much the AI values them.

There are some rare scenarios where carriers are used semi-intelligently. But otherwise... I never see them. It doesn't help that you NEVER, EVER, see a randomly generated map that requires carriers. The AI always seems to be in bomber range if overseas.

Got spare money?

That's because AI bombers, never have to land. Then don't crash, so the whole world is in their range.

Every time I gave the AI a carrier, it would destroy itself against the closest city or unit. If I did a scenario and gave it a fully loaded carrier, it would launch it's planes, then destroy itself against the nearest target.

Well, even without the unlimited range the AI gets... how many times have you needed carriers to reach AI cities? Not often, I'll warrant. Thus, no carriers.

Perhaps we should rename the carrier as a kamikaze ...or change its A/D or role. You don't see transports crashing into the nearest target, after all...

A couple of points: You can bribe when you are a Democracy but not when you opponent is in that form of government.

You don't need two engineers to build the fort if you have one pre-worked. Before the engineer sets sail have him mine a tile then immediately click on the unit to take off the "m". He is now ready to build the fort in one turn during the following year...allows for one more howitzer in the boat

In a dictionnary, I found several possibilities to translate
"case":
ENGLISCH GERMAN
case die Angelegenheit
case das Argument
case [tech.] der Behälter
case das Etui
case das Fach
case der Fall
case das Gehäuse
case [econ.] der Geschäftsfall
case der Kasten
case [ling.] der Kasus
case die Kiste
case [jur.] die Klage
case der Koffer
case der Prozess
case der Reisekoffer
case die Sache
case der Streitfall
case der Umstand

case [tech.] der Behaelter In German the same meaning as container for liquids (or was it liqueur ...difficult language)
