The magic word is tileset.
On the FreeCiv website is a manual, and under the client manual you need to read this bit. It is now a bit out of date...
If you want to change the tileset you are using, you have a choice:-
(1) Launch the client with an argument:
-tiles name
I think you can shorten this to just -t name.
For example, on my windows computer:
"C:\Program Files\freeciv-1.14.0-beta1\civclient.exe" -tiles trident
If you don't give this argument, then the default tileset is used - usually isotrident.
If you use windows, I suggest making a copy of the shortcut to civclient.exe, and change the shortcut properties to include the -t name bit.
(2) In the 1.14.0, run freeciv. In the client use the menus to goto "game", "local settings". This pops up a window called "Set Local Options", the fifth line is the Default Tileset. Change this (e.g. to Trident) and restart the client.
I hope that helps.

If you are running on Windows, your tileset must use PNG graphics files. On Linux, XPM is the norm but there are plans to move to PNG in future (I think). |
This is already done in the development tree.
