Weapons Developement Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

Looking at the civ choices and their corresponding starter techs, I see that we are the only team that currently has Warrior Code (the only other unique tech is Neu Demogyptia with Pottery). Five teams have Masonry (Lego, GS, LI, Vox and us) which means if we want to gain anything from it we would have to meet and trade with Demo or RP ASAP. If we can get in contact with Demo, getting Pottery from them should be our top priority (Masonry for Pottery will sound great to them). What ever we do, save WC until we have contact with everyone (or there abouts) then whore it out to everyone. With using W.C. as a unique tech, and if Demo doesn't realize how important Pottery is (since it is unique), we should be able to just out to a tech lead very early.

This also make me think that we should be researching the Wheel first. We could then use it to get Iron Working from LI or Vox (WC and Wheel for Iron Working), as I am sure that at least one of them is going to go for the all important Iron Working (most likely Vox, as Iron is key to their UU).

whichever tech we go for i think that we should focus on a single path and beeline for it, either bronze then iron working or the wheel then horseback riding

since we are the only civ with warrior code, and since our UU is the Rider, my personal opinion is to go for the wheel and horseback riding, then to research bronze working and iron working, one little advantage of this is that as other civs discover or trade techs the overall cost to research them will go down, so i don't think we will ever fall that far behind

once we have a few scout chariots we should be able to rapidly find at least one civ that we can attack, and we should try to vasselize that civ ASAP, once we got another civ helping us in the tech race, then i think the game will be ours to win

I agree with Wheel then Horseback.

Hopefully our only neighbor is not the builders and their mercenaries.

So I'm guessing we will research The Wheel starting at turn 3 since we have apparently played turn 2 already?

No. continue research on whatever we are researching, and then switch to wheel. We don't want to lose our beakers!!

I agree, but I haven't heard anyone mention finishing Bronzeworking yet.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

lol it won't kill us by having to research bronze working, but every little mistake adds up

btw if we did change, the beakers we'd lose in the change would be less than the beakers saved by another team discovering the tech, so i'm in favor of changing to the wheel

for those who were wondering here is the tech cost
bronze working: 3
iron working: 6
the wheel: 4
horseback riding: 5

Suffering from ads?

As I previously stated, in this and other threads: Finish Bronze working. Then go for the wheel.

but if we switch to the wheel, and one other civ discovers bronze working our lost research won't really matter

the thing is if we stay with bronze working, we might as well research iron working as well, because i'd rather be able to build either horsemen or swordsmen instead of both chariots and spearmen

lets not put ourselves on the defensive this early on, imo archers (which we can already build) are just as good as spearmen for defense when you use aggressive tactics

i say switch to the wheel, but if we do stay with bronze working then we should go for iron working next instead of the wheel

What we do is: after the wheel, if there are no horses that we can see around us, research iron working, since there may be some iron around. But, research wheel first, since our UU is the rider, which we can upgrade from earlier horse units.

but panzer we need good offensive units as early as possible, and i think that we shouldn't split our research up, if we want a horse unit ASAP then we should change to the wheel instead of finishing bronze working

Got spare money?

Ok, I see your meaning. Sure, switch to wheel, as long as it is done in the next turn. If we wait untill the turn afterward, yes, keep researching bronze, we have 3 turns of beakers going towards it.

Okay, unless the majority objects I will switch to researching the Wheel next turn (the route I usually take anyway).

Personally, I really don't use Spearmen, I build almost all Horsemen as they upgrade to better units.

Its on 100% science something like 24 turns to The Wheel, and zero deficit as we don't have anything to spend it on.
