Zeit and Theseus are both correct. I myself am starting to doubt the intentions of the Luxians, and am beginning to wonder if their intentions are unwise or beneficial to either of us.

I will speak with the Lux Invictans and settle this. I do not want to see our start position become a tool that they may barter with the other teams. It is better to not make any agreements so early since we don't want to isolate ourselves from the other teams. So far the leading plan seems to be for them to meet us in a predesignated point on the map, a 'nuetral' area.

Should I propose the "nuetral meeting spot" plan to them? Or shall we simply give them a handshake and go in peace, running into them later in the game?

First, why not go ahead and exchange information about which hemisphere the two civs are in? If we're in the same one, then we can arrange a neutral meeting spot but not give away much further location information for the time being.

As long as it only a east/west kind of exchange, I'm ok with it.
Allthough I would prefer to do this with Lego first.

Do we want to approach Legoland and see if they'd be interested, then? If so, we'd need to do it quickly, because leaving Lux hanging won't necessarily be good for relations.

What if, instead of giving away the hemisphere we are
located in, we tell what kind of 'weather' we have.
This would only give away that were not settled in tundra. Something they will probably know allready, since we didn't ask for a restart....
I don't know the word in English to describe it, but I'm sure one of you can
Isn't it tempereate, hmm guess not, no floodplains in temperate climate ,I guess

this (or a variant) could be used for Lego too off-course.

What purpose is the weather report intended to serve? The hemisphere information would be directly useful in determining whether or not early contact between the civs is likely to be practical, but weather information would serve no such purpose.

Start up a Legoland thread so we can discuss that in a proper place. The Lego's might be a better idea for us to exchange some map information with, since they are definetely not quite as militaristic as GoW or LI. They aren't LESS of a threat, just less threatening due to their builder ideals.

Who knows, they may need a protector...?

I am very uncomfortable with that at this point.

I am in favour of arranging some rendevous points a little down the road. Rendevous points very far away from the capitol.

That's cool, I figured that way. Tomorrow, I'll send a nice, feel-the-mood PM to see if they are thinking on diplo contacts already, without mentioning any map-thing. We should start to establish some ground rules anyway, like the level of secrecy we expect from negotations (succesful or not).

Is this potential alliance dead? I feel like I should know about this, but nothing on the forums is giving me any hints. If so, I'm going to contact LI to repair any possible damage to our relations; I know this whole discussion has left a bad taste in our mouths, and they probably feel the same way. In interests of future (positive) relations with them, I think some "good feelings" are in order.

Meshelic, let me know what your plans are about contacting civs directly (especially LI). It would look bad for the Foreign Minister and Ambassador to talk to LI through 2 different channels (a unified front is the way to go). Also, your PM box is full, so no one can send you PMs (at least, that's the message that I get).

?? My PM box? hmm...I'll go check it, it was full last week and I emptied it.

I have not spoken with Admiral PJ, Calc, or Trip since beginning this thread. At least not spoken anything official with them. We are both awaiting each other's replies in a way.

The only times I really contact the other civs are if they happen to PM me or if I see them on the chat and we start a private room.

The proposed alliance is not dead in the water, not yet. I think that through our own seperate team forums we have both realized that it is not wise to have full diplomatic contact until we've actually made contact "in-game".

I will be busy for the next day or so. Dominae, if you'd like to begin negotiating with the Lux Invictans and finding out what they want, you have my permission to do so.

Just remember, NYE's our leader and what he says goes. He said no map trading, and only rendezvous' later in the game....

All of the above makes sense (your post, I mean). I will contact LI, but only to "smooth things over", since there appears to be no deal. I just want to do some damage control in case we ever want to ally with them for real at some point. If I get a minute, I'll also try to create a LI DIPLO thread as a log of all our communications, just like DeepO did.
