Waterfall Diving Festival Thread Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

(This is purely a roleplay thread.)

Preparation have been made. Two dozen cattle were slaughted the night before and large bonfires burn along the shores on the river, roasting the large carcases. A faint wind wafts the sweet smell of roasting beef up into the city of Madrid, bringing residents out early to the shores to eat and watch Senor Calamari go by.

Togas and his many advisors are in attendance, sitting at a rocky outcropping with the best view of the lip of the waterfall. They drink beer, eat breaded Calamari and await the arrival of The Watcher, the prisoner, and his fate on this, the first night of the Waterfall Diving Festival.

I order that the tossing shall wait until all residents of the city have had a chance to close up their shops, finish their daily farming, and have a chance to eat. Prior to the setting of the sun Senor Calamari shall be tossed ceremoniously into this river at the fastest part, near the edge of the waterfall. We shall all observe his fate. May the spirits of his ancestors aid him so that we may watch his fall again on the morrow.

OOC:
I was hoping our Watcher would throw him into the Water, but if he does not post anything soon, I invite History Guy to post his own being "thrown in" post.

I think ask for our High Priest to "witness" History Guy's trip down the falls and let us know if he made it.

All other posts from spectators, etc, welcome.

* The High Priest returns from the pool at the bottom of the waterfall to report to the Despot Togas.

Your Grace, Senor Hernan has survived the first ride, though not without danger. I noted one odd thing, though; he bounced off a rock as he went over, yet seemed little more than winded by the collision. Strange...

Ah...I am at a lack of breath, and I fear injury [sneaks board to hiding place without anyone's notice...nodding at Dejon]. I struck a rock, and have lost my breath, and I see blood. I have survived, and I must admit that despite my injury, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience...

OOC: Since we're throwing him off for 7 evenings, is this RPing where we get the 7-day week from? See, Hernan, you have a larger effect on history than any of us (save Togas) so far!

Welcome to Iberia. You can entertain my guests at any time for what price you ask. Our doors are always open...well, at least for the week. It's a mourning ceremony.

(Psst...this is Gastronome Neecap...unbeknowst to me master, the poor laddie, I'ma doin' a little business for meself...I sell chickens...yes, that's right...chickens! Fried chickens! And they are selling here at the festival like...fried chickens!

However...I am willing to part with a certain chicken here that has laid me a good amount of eggs for just a small fee...

Or would you rather have a roasted chicken?

How's about a rooster?

Dang. When am I ever going to be able to retire?)

Only just is right...[slips board into hiding place without anyone's notice]

He's badly injured in the side, and I fear for his existence. It seems that this time it was too close.

Senor Mitchell, I was hoping that you might be able to do a little business with us.

[ooc] Historically, if we want to stick to genuine roleplay, how is Spam Brand Squid actually surviving?! You can't possibly be able to afford to keep it up when it doesn't turn a profit, and yet keep La Ropa in fine condition. Truly, in real life, your squid company would be bankrupt! [/ooc]

Considering that you are making no money off of your squid, and you cannot possibly afford to hold onto it, why not allow us to make you rich off of it by buying it all from you? What do you stand to lose? You only stand to gain!
