After playing ixnay's scenario, I just had to make a PtW version of it. Here's the readme file:
Overview:
Based on the novel of the same name by Kim Stanley Robinson (©2002, Bantam books). The black plague has swept through Europe, killing 99% of the population. Without European influence, the stage is set for China and Islam to rise up and become major world powers. This scenario uses Marla Singer's World Map. Scenario created by Kyle Stadler (ixnay37), and modified for Play the World by Matthew Dimitroff (Switch).
Civilizations:
There are 10 civilizations to choose from. The default is Dar al-Islam. To change which civilization you wish to play, open the .bix file in Civ3XEdit, and check a different player as "Human Player" under Player Properties.
Dar al-Islam
Leader: Sultan Mawji Darya
Capital: Mecca
Expansionist, Religious
The Muslims control a large section of land, including most of the Middle East and the northern coast of Africa. They have begun repopulating Europe and have several trading posts along the eastern coast of Africa. Their tech level is in the mid-middle ages. Playing as Dar al-Islam, your best bet would be to expand into Europe and Africa, and eventually into America.
China
Leader: Emperor Zhu Isao
Capital: Beijing
Militaristic, Scientific
The Chinese have a large population and are surrounded by plenty of open land to colonize. Admiral Kheim has a Galleon that, while it could be used to attack Nippon, is able to reach America. They are in the mid-middle ages. Playing as China, your best bet would be to go on the offensive as soon as possible and expand quickly.
India
Leader: Kerala Nadir Shah
Capital: Delhi
Scientific, Commercial
The Indians have a large population but not as much territory as the Chinese. Their military is not as powerful as their neighbors, but they do have superior research compared to everyone else. Playing as India, your best bet would be to maintain a tech lead and use that to defend against invaders and eventually go on the offensive.
Mughals
Leader: Khan Abdul Aziz
Capital: Samarqand
Militaristic, Industrious
The Mughals are strategically located on the silk road that connects China to Dar al-Islam. Be careful of attacks from these civilizations; however, India has a weak military and is an inviting target... They are in the early middle ages.
Golden Horde
Leader: Khan Temur
Capital: Astrakhan
Militaristic, Religious
The Golden Horde is composed of the remnants of the Mongol empire in Eastern Europe. Eastern Europe and Siberia are both ripe for settling. They are in the early middle ages.
Ottoman Empire
Leader: Sultan Caliph Selim
Capital: Constantinople
Industrious, Scientific
The Ottomans are small, but well defended. Located between the Golden Horde, Dar al-Islam, and the Mughals, they have little room to expand. They are in the early middle ages. The Balkans lie empty and are probably the best place to grow into while you build up.
Nippon
Leader: Shogun Tokugawa
Capital: Edo
Industrious, Commercial
The Nipponese are somewhat protected by the islands that they inhabit, but must watch out for Chinese expansion. They are in the late ancient era. Your best bet for survival is probably to expand north of China.
Hodenosaunee
Leader: Chief Daganoweda
Capital: Hodenosaunee
Religious, Commercial
The Hodenosaunee are a confederation of Native American tribes in North America. They cannot build settlers, but start with four of them. Expand wisely, and watch out for the imperialistic Chinese and Muslims.
Aztecs
Leader: Chief Montezuma
Capital: Tenochtitlan
Religious, Militaristic
The Aztecs represent Central and South American Native Americans, and are weak and technologically inferior, but very wealthy. They cannot build settlers. They are a very inviting target for everyone else.
Native Africans
Leader: Chief Shaka
Capital: Zimbabwe
Militaristic
Though the Africans control a very large amount of land, it is composed of several seperate tribes that are technologically inferior. They cannot build settlers. Their greatest threat is the Muslims, but if they can unify they might stand a chance of survival.
So, enjoy this scenario. If you find any problems, inaccuracies, or gameplay issues, post them here.
I am also looking for ideas on adding or altering units and the like. Please post any you may have.

Version history:
v.99a: Original Civ3 version for 1.29f, by ixnay
v1.0: First PtW version, for 1.04f
v1.01: fixes error in unit upgrade tree, disallowing most civs from using swordsmen/medieval infantry.
All of these are compatible with PtW v1.04f and v1.14f. Untested with v1.01f (out-of-box version).

Yes, it worked, just as in the days before I got to the military service, when I monitored these forums for new files every hour during my awake time.
Oh well, I think I'm still doing an average job, but it could be better... But I have to focus on programming as well as this, I can't be a full time file mannager, because then I can't create any files myself, and my MT is in need of an updated version.

Hi,
thx for the MOD but with more Human Players it is useless, because ONLY 8 Civilisations at the same time. So please could you adapt it to only 8 ! (Merge some Civilisations) hhhhmmm but than I think the map is too large, isn't it ?

Ok, I've done some work on adding more book elements, however I don't think I'll release it until it's complete, as it could create unbalances....the current version, with only elemens included with Civ3 (just mainly renaming or attribute changes) is balanced.
1. Renamed Aztecs to Inca, changed adj/noun, city list, leaders, and civ leader.
2. Added Immobile Gun 0.0.1/20.20.1
I gave it bombard strength 20 (R.Artillery is 16), range 20 (maybe too strong, Stealth Bomber is 12). Requirements are Aluminum and Uranium (I assume it would require a pretty hefty power supply). Lethal Land Bombardment.
The techreq is Smart Weapons
3. Added Settler unit for Hondenosaunee, same as Settler, requires Nationalism (As their favoured gov't is Communism, and the tech would also sorta relate to them kicking out the colonizers).
What do you think?

Well, as it turns out, it really is available in Canada. I was told that it wasn't, but the person who told me was referring only to the paperback . However, at the moment I'm not really in the mood to spend money, so I probably won't have this book for at least a month.
Thanks for that link anyway, though. Through it I found two good "So you want to..." articles, one on Kim Stanley Robinson and another on reading science fiction, but skipping all of the junk.
sabrewolf, have you read the book? Would you be able to give any ideas on civilization, placement, or unit additions or changes?

I haven't read the book, so these could all somehow go against what is stated there. But anyway, here are a few suggestions:
Maybe make it start in the 13/1400s instead of 4000 BC?
That's my biggest gripe with it, for some reason... excellent all around... hmm... what else...
Rename Constantinopole Istanbul?
Perhaps lower the corruption a bit. As Dar-Al-Islam, any of my European cities and all of the cities past Cairo only produced 1 shield/turn w/o Courthouse. I assume the other civs have the same problem.
Maybe add Mongolia to the Golden Horde... even tho' they were all separate Khanates, I believe that there still WAS a khanate out east, in Mongolia. (Or had it fallen apart by then?) Perhaps make 'em another civ.
Mughals were the weakest civ throughout my game so far (except Africa and Aztecs, and at times the Hodenosaunee)... perhaps a few more bonus resources?
Dar-Al-Islam really seems to dominate in the West. Perhaps take away one of those extra settlers in Europe in the beginning? Or give some to the Ottomans and the Horde.
I thought the Native Africans were very well done. In fighting and eventually annihilating them, I heartily enjoyed the way their cities were set up. Most very small, but all with massive amounts of culture. I also enjoyed the way their military was set up-almost all (well, all... no almost) their army consisted of Impis and archers, and, even though they were weak, it was still a pain to meet them in the field. Cities, though, fell in all of 2 seconds. :P
If the Impi were given an attack point or another defense point, the Africans might actually have had a chance. :P
Oh, one last thing: as soon as the scenario begins, Riyadh and the other Arabian desert cities starve down to size 2, where they stay until the age of rail. Either add more food to desert or make the cities START at size 2...
That's all! GREAT Mod overall. Though, I must say, I kinda feel sorry for the Europeans...
Yet another "one last thing:" If the editor allows it, add ruins throughout Europe where major cities used to be. After all, just because all of Europe is dead doesn't mean that the cities just disappeared! (In the same way, you could add roads and irrigation and the like, but I think that would make recolonization too easy)

Hey, nice ideas, DL. I'm not sure about the date either, but once I get the book I'm going to make sure that the date is set proper.
One reason a lot of the changes that could be done haven't been is that the scenario was originally made with the 1.29f editor. As soon as I got PtW, I couldn't help but fix up ixnay's scenario with the new PtW options and additions. (eg, Golden Horde used to be Russia, Arabia was Babylon, and Ottoman's were Greece).
I have a currently unreleased version with the fixed city name (it seemed the AI would build Istanbul, so there would be double cities ). As well, I've redone the Aztecs and turned them into the Inca, and fixed up city placement.
I'm also working on some units that were mentioned in the book, though as I don't have it I can't be sure of the accuracy.
Right now I'm working on fixing the placement of the other civs, and hope to at least release a version 1.2. Once I get the new units completed, I'll release version 2.0.
