Some loser insisted I post my suggestion to build our ~5th city on that coast, assuming it's not too far away. So there it is.

I believe there's a great spot to build a city just NE of our capital. If it's really good, then it might not be a bad idea to build one there real soon, improve it, and maybe start the Colossus there.

From my experience building some empty galleys when you get close to the middle ages will stop any kind of sea attack until the late middle ages because for the attacker it is simply not worth the risk of getting their units sunk before they can even land. even if it takes galleys to sink it, you have lost one galley while they have lost the galley and the two units it was carrying.
Another thing, elimination games excluded, I rarely see human players use the sea to launch an attack if there is a land border between due the risks of losing units. So a force of about 4 galleys should work. we may need more or less, depending on what our overall location and our likelyhood of being attacked from there.

My question relates to whether or not one could attack with a galley???
A city with Colossus may be a good idea.

Hmmm...thinking on this, you may be right. Only humans can really figure out beach invasions, and use navy formations...
