*From the desk of the Foreign Minister*
Godking, ambassador (or) FM of the Roleplay team, has arrived at my doorstep with the following requests.
He asks for the following: (didn't quote his PM due to 'poly rules, I haven't gotten his permission to post his PM yet, so I'll word for word it [almost])
1.) Both teams exchange w/ eachother a copy of the small location maps, with the intention of having our first explorers attempt to meet.
2.) The instant that either team is able to do so, we both agree to trade world maps.
3.)Technology - they are not researching military techs right now, they would be willing to trade for bronze working, iron working, and so forth. Their initial research is going towards literature so they can be the first to have libraries.
4.)Godking asks if we have made any agreements regarding Wonder construction. The Roleplayers have decided that if another team requests the RP'ers to not build a wonder that is already under construction, then they will NOT build that wonder if the other team agrees to not build the Wonder THEY are working on.
So far, that is all. He also told me that the RP'ers have 13 turns left until they build their first military unit, and that he would like to work out some sort of agenda between our two teams by the time that unit is created.

Whow... are they being naive, or rather a bit to optimistic? Minimap trading I could agree with (maybe), world map trading prolly not (because if they don't intend to build many scouts, we are likely to have a larger map to give then we'll get).
#3 is extremely careless to tell us, they would be toast for our WCs if they are close to us. I could agree though, as long as we get 2 techs for each mil. tech.
#4 is the trickier one: at first it seems a good thing to do, however, if they are aiming for literature, they will very likely start the GL before anyone else. Which would mean that if we agree to #3, we give the GL away. Maybe we can't help it, but if possible I would certainly go for that one, it's one of the most important economical wonders.
Re: build order: a temple would be finished in turn 12 or so, depending on chopping forest, and bonusses. Their first military unit can hardly be a warrior if it would only be built in turn 19 or 20... or they are taking it very slowly military wise. That temple does mean we are going to meet some serious cultural opponents, maybe we should take that into account when planning the build queue.

Well there aren't any rules yet. Only an international committee can decide on game rules, and that hasn't happened.
My assumption is that nearly anything is possible, depending on how each team wants to approach things.
For example: Togas (of the RP'ers) stated that he will not hold official talks until they discover writing and can establish embassies, although it's strange because their Ambassador Godking is seeming to go against that ruling with the talk of map trading.
In our case, no one has really come forward to state that they think we should hold off on diplomatic contact until we establish embassies, no alliances until MPP"s are available...etc.
But since this is such a free-form game, it IS possible that we go beyond the Civ3 game itself and trade or make agreements before embassies are available, or other abilities are made available.
The only RULE that I understand is that there will be NO hacking or spying in the other teams forums, or any misconduct that way. That's the only rule I'm aware of.
