How are we handling interteam contact in Put an end to popups!

I haven't had experience with meeting a human controlled civ, but UberKrux said that the computer AI controls other human teams negotiations.

Do we allow each team to trade techs and maps with these AI negotiators or only allow tech trades through PM between abassadors?

If PM, is this going to pause the game while we wait for negotiations?

Tired of ads?

All negotiations are taken turn by turn (you offers something one turn, they offer something in return during theirs, you can offer something different your next turn, they can re-offer something, etc. etc.) and this can go on ad infinitum.

And yes, most negotiations will take place via PMs. And yes, that will most likely end up delaying the game.

The key will be to work out trades before the initial offer so the other team only needs to accept. So, yes PM or E-mail will be the most likely methods, but it could be done without delaying the game too much.

Increase Your PM Length

Well, when teams first contact each other it will delay the game, simply because the teams will want to get a deal made that turn, if possible.

Perhaps everyone should use messengers for diplomacy. It would be much faster. Only PM or e-mail if necessary.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

The interesting aspect here is that civs, even before they meet each other in the game - can engage in discussion, and wheel and deal in theory - but until they meet in the game - they can't really trade anything.

I suspect that the actual game deals will go quickly - the details having been discussed and hammered out via PM.

I suppose you could trade somethings before you meet - like 'we are in the far south - on a medium size land mass - we have this or that luxury - where are you.

I also suppose we could trade team members - nah - maybe not.

Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

If teams reach a decision before they go ahead and do deals in-game, the deal takes only one full turn. One proposes their end, the other proposes whatever they need to propose on their end and accept

on the initiators next turn they can accept and finish the deal.

We need make our deals turn by turn. Things could get increadibly bogged down otherwise. It also could add an extra element of strategy.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

If one player offers, and highlites the accept option, and the other does the same (this is probably what Calc was saying) then it only takes one turn. If people work things out ahead of time, then negotiations won't bog down the game. All of this provided that the teams are organized and competent enough to ensure an orderly decision making process...something I have already seen in at least one other team, which has not been the case...
