Unload Units from Armies in PTW 1.14 Get a bigger avatar today!

Per Civfanatics (www.civfanatics.com),
Two (similar) methods have been discovered for unloading units from Armies in PTW 1.14.

I hope I will be able to ignore these bugs/features, as I do not believe they were intended.

Care to elaborate? Or are you gonna make us go over to Civfanatics.com and find it?

Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

Go there and find it. If you go there today, it is just below the first news item (which is short). Personally, as I indicated, I do not want to encourage people to use it (doh, is THAT why I started this thread?).

Why not encourage people to use them?

One of the biggest gripes about armies is the inability to upgrade their components once they've been loaded.

Here's the info from CivFanatics:

quote:

The resourceful people in the forum have discovered new ways to unload units from armies in Play the World.

Method 1 (thanks Kevo):
First of all, you need 3 things: an army with at least one unit loaded, a transport ship with available space, and a coastal city.

Place the army and the ship in the city.
Select the army, and then click on the unit to unload (in the army window).
Press the load button (or L key).
There should appear a window for choosing what to load the unit into, and it should contain at least the army and the ship. Select the ship and press OK.
Now the unit is loaded into the ship, and it will behave per normal. Unload the unit from the ship and use it as you will. If there are more units in the army, repeat the above procedure for each unit you wish to unload. By the way, this works in PTW v1.14f.

Method 2 (thanks Cumulus):
It also works on land. Select the army and pick the unit in the army that you want to unload in the army window. Then use the goto button in the unit actions and send it to an adjacent space. This works in PTW 1.14f.

Well, since Firaxis knows about it now, they'll fix it.

Good to know about it. I regard this as a feature/bug not to be used in MP unless all players know about it and decide whether or not to use it.

Perhaps fixing it means providing this functionality? Personnally I hardly ever use army's. One of the reasons being they can not be upgraded. If this functionality is provided, I may start using them.

All I've got was a game frozen.
I'll try the 1st method later...

Tired of ads?

This is an unintended feature, therefore it is considered cheating. I see no problem with people using it in SP (they can mapedit or whatever as long as they are enjoying) but this should be fixed for MP.
