(Review the yahoogroups email I sent with the attached photo that illustrates my plan and comment in this thread.)
Red boxes are recommended city sites.
Yellow boxes represent an offensive unit.
Green boxes represent a defensive unit.
This will be extremely defensible and will provide enough deterrence to hopefully prevent any war, plus from these positions we will see them coming...atleast until they get the ansar warrior...
CalcII is my only official Praetorian, but I am accepting opinions and ideas from the entire team. Will you execute this plan?

I was thinking about this too(changing the proposed city sites) and I decided to go for longer view. Meaning, we put some defense on the mountain and in the city, but we put the city where it will grow better, but still have excellent access to production.
I also changed the proposed city sites, because of the new map information available, which lead me to believe there could be better city sites available.
Also, posting troops on the mountains will give us excellent visability of approaching enemies.

Posting troops on the mountains will help but we will also have to prevent their units from getting too close to our cities by travelling up or down the mountain chain. This might mean a defensive unit to the SE of the location of the NDE settler in the pic, etc. I personally think those two cities are too close to the mountain range for that reason. I think ift is a better use of the land the the proposed "red square" city site proposed earlier.

After the latest turn, in think the city site farthest to the south is out of the question. It is too close to their capital (it has to be their capital, and not a city founded by the settler we saw, because it would have taken 4 turns for that settler to move from its 3450 BC location and settler there and not 2).
