Due to kids buying Primatene Mist to use to get high, it's very difficult to get it around here. Three stores in the immediate area sell it, and as they are all right next to each other, they all go empty at the same time. My own inhaler ran out two days ago. The stores are out. Last time they were out it took them four months to get any back in.

There are pills you can take, and they help somewhat. I took some this morning, and again about three hours ago. I still feel like someone's sitting on my chest.

I've been sucking down Coke, hoping the caffene will help (it does a little).

I have a nasal inhaler to help open your sinuses. I'm trying this thing, and it helps for a few minutes, then its back to suffication time.

I'm waiting for my Illinois doctor to call a pharmacist here in town, so that I can spend $30 on a perscription inhaler . . . $30 I don't have to spend.

All I want is some air.

You should never be without an asthma inhaler!

Talking about pharmacies and stuff last night I and a friend drove around Athens to get to pharmacies which are open at night.

And the closed ones had the green cross light on even though they were closed

That's sh!t. Only the open ones should have it on so that you can easily identify them when driving down a street.

I'm gonna petition the municipality for that. Just send them a note or something.

The ride was to get a bottle of milk for his little one who doesn't have an engyme which can process a substance in the milk, hence special milk is needed. And at 10 euros a bottle no less

Bunnygrrl's mom is a pharmacist, and she's going to supply me with some expropriated abuterol inhalers. Also, my stepmother is a respatory therapist, and I asked Theben to see if she can get me some extras (before BG asked her mom). If I can hold out a week without dying or going to the hosptial and incurring hundreds of dollars of debt I can't afford I'll be doing quite well.

I try to keep one functional Proventil inhaler around at all times. I haven't used Primetine since the doctor at the university clinic told me it's bad stuff to use on a regular basis. I really feel for you.

I know I'm in trouble if I can't get a decent yawn.

I would use coffee instead of cola; it seems to work better for me, and its healthier, I think.

I have asthma, but I haven't had a serious attacks in years. Occasionally, I get mild attacks, but they're tolerable without any inhalers. Apparantly, the inhaler that I currently "use" was prescribed last September.

Hey Che! I gave blood a few weeks ago. Whenever you give blood they give you a form to screen out people whose blood they can't accept. There is a question on the form referring to asthma, but the question reads: "Do you suffer from any lung disorder other than asthma." I believe that the person who told you that asthmatics can't give blood probably misread the question.

Now go roll up your sleeve. Bend over and say "Ah!"

I can't believe that the city of Jacksonville is completely without Primatene. It's a metropolis for crying out loud! If you're using your inhaler that often you probably need an anti-inflammatory as well. See if your sources can get either a steroid inhaler or Singulair for you. Singulair is a new non-steroidal anti-inflammatory for the respiratory system. It works sort of like a steroid without most of the side effects. Something else new is Advair. This is a new inhaled medicine that is a combination of Servent, a long acting form of albuterol, and Flovent, a popular inhaled steroid. Maybe someone has some samples? Unfortunately since I can't turn away Medicaid patients I don't gert many samples. The drug companies know that perscriptions that I write for my Medicaid patients don't earn as much for their companies because Medicaid determines what it pays for each drug. Consequently drug reps would just as soon that I write scripts for someone else's drugs.

Well, had to go to the hospital last night. I end up in the ER about once a year, and it was 11 months since the last time. Usually when I'm on my way to the hospital, I relax some, and it's easier for me to breathe, but the cabbie was wearing a bit too much cologne, and so my lungs got worse. I could barely talk by the time I got to the hospital, just short whispers.

Aside from the risk of dying, last night also cost us money we can't afford. I think I can arrange things though, that will help keep the wolf from the door.

Dr.S, that's good news about the donating blood.

Heavy Asthma is indeed a pain. Had a lot of trouble with it in my early childhood, but it got better due to constant therapy/medication. Also weight is a factor, I was...hm...not fat, but certainly overweighted as a child, played a lot of soccer later to get rid of unneccessary "tons" Today I´m without problems most of the year, only during the summer I experience attacks sometimes....

Cologne and perfume are what kill me, and one of the only things that trigger an attack for me. (Smoke being another)

I was having asthma like symptons right at the onset of winter. I think a combination of a cold, a cat becoming part of my home (allergic), and the cold, low humidity air brought it on. Would wake up in the mornings having difficulty breathing, and it would worsen throughout the day.

Not fun.

You need to get some second tier medications and at least keep a supply around for periods when your asthma acts up and just refuses to surrender to first tier meds. First tier meds are bronchodilators like albuterol, primatene, and terbutaline. Second tier meds are steroid inhalers, non-steroidals like Singulair and long acting bronchodilators like Serevent. When you have a flair up that lasts more than a few days you go to the second tier meds.
