Hm, that's a bit like complaining about red being the dominant color in SMAC. Anyway, it's a bit late for a change... unless of course you'd like another delay.

I like the color scheme. A strategy game shouldn't be about the graphics anyway, though they are nice. I just want solid gameplay.

It seems that MoO3 is extremely close to completion qouting gamespot

"Our preview build was accompanied by a final manual and the official strategy guide, which has already been released. Even the second play disc looked to be from a final, mass-production run. Only the install disc betrayed the game's still-beta status, as Quicksilver is still making some tweaks to the game's multiplayer stability. The single-player matches we tried out proved to be perfectly stable and reasonably polished"

seems preety close to me

Check out that link -- look at some diplomacy options, "Conditional Surrender," and "Unconditional Surrender."

Think people would be able to actually lose a war and get taken over and then eventually lead some sort of rebellion to be a free Empire again?

I think a conditional surrender would be a surrender under set conditions - like giving up some of your fleet and planetse and making peace with them for however long. An unconditional surrender would be so that they would simply let you continue to exist and they would do whatever they pleased with your empire.

Fiefdoms are out for sure. Sucks doesn`t it?

True, but, as most of the graphics are pretty simplistic, they could have given us some choice of color schemes. I would have preferred grey tones, for example, instead of the blue. Should not have been too hard to implement.

Oh, so you know exactly how thier UI engine was built? How the graphics were constructed?

And what colors do you suggest for a space strategy game? Pink? Purple? How about chartruese?
Those are pretty lively.

And as for your choice of gray tones-- I think they are using gray to indicated DISABLED buttons/options as do most people when designing user interfaces.

I find it really funny when people say "oh it shouldn't be THAT hard to do..." not knowing anything about programming, design project management or software engineering in general.

Those who cannot do, complain.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Um. Changing the color in the UI would NOT be hard. Come on. Change the color from 0.0, 0.1, 0.7 (which is a kinda pale blue with a little green) to anything else. Unless they're loading a texture, in which case it would be a simple matter to just provide other ui textures.

Its possible, however, that the option to change the ui color is there, and just no one has mentioned it yet.

It is not a simple task to change the UI. We're not doing procedural coloration here, but a proprietary UI kit that uses image files in a really kind of tricky way. I've told folks before that they could 'mod' the UI shell if they want to, but be prepared for a world of time and grief in doing so. There are currently over 300 texture files being used in a very specific formatting process to make up the UI.

Simple? No. Time consuming, hell yes.

I'll forgive you the error of your assumptions however, seeing as you're from Walla Walla.

That's just *Wrong*, not even a bug -- because it DOES NOT work that way.

I don't know if the Gamespot author was on meds when he previewed the game or what, but I've seen more incorrect or inaccurate statements than reliable ones.

1) If you have a non-aggression pact or alliance with someone, you can "safely" have ships in each other's systems -- you won't even be ABLE to fight each other unless the agreements are broken, and you certainly won't be blockading each others planets. I don't know where this guy got the idea from, because it never even did this in the earliest of beta builds. You will blockade someone you're only *neutral* with (no agreement, but no sanctions or war either); maybe that's what he was thinking of.

2) Combat is NOT decided beforehand based purely on comparative firepower. He clearly didn't fight any combats big enough to judge fairly. Those of you that have read some of the AARs on the IG forums know what I'm talking about. Tactics can make a WORLD of difference this time around.

There are more problems with that preview, but that's enough for now. This is why I stopped using Gamespot for any meaningful insights into games LONG before they started charging for access.

Hi there Xentax,
I was wondering if there was anyway I could post again at the IG forums, because I was kicked last week by Sencho. I made a remark about Chantz and his Greek Ancestry, and generalized Greeks as biased agaisnt Turks (which is not too far off the mark, because I'm half Greek, and my grandparents are pretty biased against Turks!), and then I sort of remarked that he himself looked a little Turkish, and so he probably loathed himself for it....I wasn't trying to be mean derogatory or anything. Anyways, that was about a week and a half ago. So could you make it happen? By the way, no warning or red flag letting me know to cool it?
