What is goto event? |
An event which orders units in certain squares to go to certain squares. The proper name is a Move Unit event.
If you load up the Cruel Sea 2.0s event1 file, the fourth event from the top is:
quote: @IF
UNITKILLED
unit=Freighter
attacker=Germans
defender=English
@THEN
CHANGEMONEY
receiver=English
amount=-100
MOVEUNIT
unit=Freighter
owner=English
maprect
87,45,91,45,91,57,87,57
moveto
42,64
numbertomove=ALL
@ENDIF |
What this means is that every time the Germans kill a British Freighter, the British lose 100 gold, and all the freighters in the rectangle bounded by squares with co-ordinates (87,45),(91,45),(91,57),(87,57) are ordered to move to the square with co-ordinate (42,64).
The purpose of that particular event is to get around the bug where goto orders are sometimes removed after units are killed. This event re-issues the order.
Captain Nemo's 'Red Front' features excelent use of moveunit events, and is well worth a look if you're thinking of using them.

Edit: You prolly allready knew about the url. It can't be that hard to update it though, one must just seek Marko's approval (which could be harder) if you want to release it. I'm afraid I don't have time for it now though. |
thx arthedain! but i also googled that url- strange thing but: there also is an (perhaps) older version of this scen which has older graphics but much much more possibilities! In fact I think it is another scen with the same name by the same creator...
i will give you an description:
quote: The scenario allows you play as the leader of Axis, Allies, Soviet Union, France, Finland, Sweden, Turkey, Spain, Yugoslavia or Minor Nations (Switzerland, Portugal and Ireland during last half of the scenario). Also multiplayer versions are created. You can start from any point of war from May 1940 to May 1945.
In order to make managing the scenario (without sounds more than 18MB - scenario has 234 events, 65 rules and 13 units files) as easy as possible for player there is a .BAT file with system of menues which manages everything. There is no need to make any specific subfolders for different versions or backup files. Before starting the scenario or continuing saved game player needs only run Europe.bat file and the program set up right version.
There are 10 different dates which you can choose as starting time for the game:
May 1940 – "Battle for France"
July 1940 – "Battle for England"
June 1941 – "Operation Barbarossa"
November 1941 – "Battle of Moscow"
July 1942 – "Battle of Stalingrad I "
November 1942 – "Battle of Stalingrad II"
July 1943 – "Battle of Kursk"
June 1944 – "Operation Overlord"
December 1944 – "Battle of Bulge"
May 1945 – "The End of Axis"
There is created as realistic as possible war situation in Europe for each starting date in three versions: for playing as Axis (Soviet Union and United Kingdom are overstrenghted), as Allies or Soviets (Axis is overstrenghted) or as minor nation or multiplayer (relative strenghts of nations are more realistic). So there are 30 .SCN files in scenario. |
30 scn files!!!
The scen which url gave me has moreless nice graphics- this one I speak of is really ugly...

You're wrong poustes, as usual. I have 2 sources I used, which both corroborate the fact that 2 types of steel helmets were in use by the Greek Army. Quoting from Andrew Mollo's Armed Forces of WW2: ' There were two steel helmets in general use in the Greek Army. The first was the British Mk 1 pattern, which was in the process (in 1941) of being replaced by a Greek model similar to the Italian helmet.' This book contains an illustation of the regular infantry wearing the former, and the Evzones wearing the latter. Coincidentally, the second source 'Army uniforms of WW2' also shows an Evzone wearing the Greek model, although I guess either could be worn.
I have copied the illustrations from these books fairly closely for the civ units, so the Evzone wears the Italian-type Greek helmet and the regular wears the British Mk 1. As an aside, the illustrations from the first Mollo book are copied from photos of the period, so they are certain to be correct in detail, if not in colour.
Mollo's book of WW1 uniforms states that the French Adrian helmet was worn, so I guess it's also possible that this was still used as well (?)

YOu don't call someone an idiot unless it is very clear they are joking, or if they are a bigot.
