More Greek Hoplite units:

Top Row

Based on Erwan's figure. He doesn't have a sig (that I am aware of), so I gave him an "E" for the purpose of these units.

They represent other Greek city states.

Second Row

King Leonidas

Other Greek City States (based on AoE conversions). These were modified, re-painted, etc. . .

Thanx guys - pretty satisfied with the galleons and galleasses myself. My own favourites are probably the hulk which came out just as medieval-looking as I wanted, - and the privateer, which achieved a nice feel of wind, maneuvreability and action IMO.

@Gagliaudo - you got me mixed up with someone else, me thinks - I'm not Eivind !

I'm really sorry, my hurry in looking at thred take me in confusion...
I didn't see Danebrog exactly, I had just seen Eivind's posts in another thread (or something like this), finally Denmark and Norge flags are quite similar...
So... I 'rebaptized' you Eivind !!!
I apologize...
but all these Wikings ... will drive me crazy !!!
My mistakes will become proverbial...

However the congratulations for naval units were for their author... The one and unique you

Found these that I thought i had lost ages ago; I might as well post 'em before I lose them again. Units for the Habsburg-Valois conflict of the early 16th Century.

Beautiful Fairline!

Just two comments:

1) the Burgundian Archer doesn't carry a bow... Uncommon for an archer (unless my english isn't as good as I thought and I'm missing something... )

2) no Swiss mercenaries??

@Cyrion: waiting for Fairline 'lights', I could try to explain about "Burgundian archer", it was a guard corp, and the armament became separated by the name. Btw, IIRC, I saw a Burgundian Archer on the OOOOOLD civ2 site of Fiera... He made a good "Guardia Vieja" (mounted "Old Guard"), too.

Thanks gents. Gagliaudo got it right - the Burgundian Archers were a Habsburg Guard unit who presumably had been armed with a bow initially. The source pic I used was armed with a broad-bladed spear.

Cyrion - I guess you could use the Landsnechts as Swiss as they were dressed and armed in the same fashion by this time. In fact I think the Landsknechts were the Emperor Maximillian's answer to the French using Swiss pikemen in the early stages of the Italian Wars.

You're right ...and some Cent-Suisses and Archers Francais for the French. And maybe a Spahi for the Turks. However, I was thinking of trying my hand at Normans and Byzantines first

Yesyesyesyes . . . . . Put an end to popups!

Normans and Byzantines sound good. Very good.

And

Cumans, Pechenegs, and Khazars.

A special unit for The Golden Horn.

French, German, and Spanish knights c. 1000

Hospitalars, Templars, and King Richard Coeur de Leon'

Omayyads, Abbasids, Almohades, and Almoravids.

Burgundians, Georgians, and Bulgars.

I think that about covers it.

that's no coincidence since Swiss mercenaries ARE basically Landsknechte, Switzerland mainly being made up of southern Swabia and Landsknechte are predominantly Swabians.

again beautiful units BTW, and I have a suggestion for the third Landsknecht, he could have the huge Flamberge two-hander and the Gladius-like Katzbalger sword.

I think I might resent that! Just kidding...

Actually the Swabians were much more "sophisticated" than we were at the time...
