Well, other than peace and harmonious relationships with ALL of the nations that have the good fortune of sharing the same great landmass as the humble Spanish Civilization, all I want for Christmas from my fellow PTW Demo Game friends is to exchange copies of our minimaps.
I know my ambassadors have been asking. I know some of you have ignored them. Please don't ignore them. They are prideful Spaniards, yes, but deep down inside they have hearts. And all THEY really want for Christmas is to please their beloved despot.
And their beloved despot wants to know where the other civilizations are.
No, we don't want "maps", we want perspective locations so we can compare our place in the world to yours and send forth an expedition to meet and greet and exchange knowledge.
If the "map" part of minimap is a problem, we have created a solution. One clever lad from my tribe drew a black box the same size as these "minimaps" and placed our RP icon on the spot where our nation started.
So for all of you paranoid isolationist teams who feel that we are going to have some sort of dangerous "edge" over you if we see your minimap, feel free to exchange with us "locations" by creating a black box of the same dimensions as your minimap and placing a picture of your icon on the exact spot in that box that your nation began.
Your personal Roleplay Ambassador is awaiting your PM on this issue. He will be overjoyed to hear from you and will quickly facilitate the exchange. If he does not, tell me and I'll do it myself then I'll deal with my slacking, no-good, too-busy-over-the-holidays punk!
Merry Christmas!

Paranoia at it's finest. I commend your team for it's brilliant isolationist policy. You'll definately win with that sort of attitude.
No, it seems we won't be receiving all of the other nations' minimaps for Christmas, but we will be sharing with a good many of the teams, making contact, and then trading actual assets like knowledge and gold. Those who have contacted us already and already traded with us know that we have kept their secret safe, as we have never offered up another team's mini-map.
Take a chance and trade with us so we can meet up. It's a win-win situation, as each of us gets more knowledge and gets contact for future exchanges. And who knows ... if we find out where 5 of the other teams are, we'll be able to estimate where Lux Invicta is, and that information, I promise, we will give to everyone for free.

Calc - I understood that. And I agree.
I personally think trading mini-maps is not in keeping with the spirit and intent of the game. There are certain things that can only be done within the game - trading techs, gold, luxuries, etc,. And map trading should only be valid when the two civs have met and have map making - as per the game.
Now - sharing info - such as 'we are to the south and east', even before civs have met, may also be considered outside of the scope of the game. But, IMHO, it doesn't reveal that much info, and with seven civs on the map you can pretty well figure out that there is one to your east, or west, or whatever. And besides, it allows some team-interaction and fun at an early stage when by rights, all foreign affairs ministers should simply be lounging around.
But on the mini-map trading thing, no agreement, convention, or rule was established prior to the game. Poll anyone?
