City Planning: Madrid Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

[OOC]

While this thread is not intended to be entirely OOC, posts regarding micromanaging the gameplay probably should be. In other posts, I suppose I/we should at least attempt to role-play stuff regarding the city planning, even if it seems awkward

----------------------------------------

Please note that the above is based upon my confusion at looking at the save file I was sent by Togas (which is marked 3300 B.C.) in comparison to his report (which is marked 3250 B.C.)... the two look identical to one another in terms of what the inside of Madrid looks like other than the happy laborer... so I'm confused as to which turn we are actually on... I counted 22 beakers remaining to Bronze Working on the 3300 B.C. save Togas sent me and I say 1 turn to the settler on that save as well (for reference), so I've called that "Turn 0" above.

If anyone can clear up any problems from above, please do. Thanks.

Doh!

Too bad Togas BARELY missed this... don't think it should be TOO MUCH of a problem, though. If we really have an issue, we can always change the placeholder construction from a warrior to an improvement or a settler until we get Bronze Working.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

I now have an alternate plan already composed if Togas has already sent the save to the next team with cows as the chosen WF for Madrid. Picking cows only loses us 1 gold immediately and at most a few gold down the road (for the delay on Madrid growing in pop). Not a big deal.

TURN 5

6/10 shields to Warrior (or 4???)

The population just increased this turn, so they will not have an effect on the build until the next turn. So there will be 4 of 10 shields done.

At this point it is 2 turns TOC for the Warrior (3 + 3).
THis is were I would be different. I would complete the Warrior and have one more in the Queue. Having Spearmen are nice, but we need the 2 units now.

I would have for Madrid: Build Warrior; Queue: Warrior, Worker, Spearman, then Settler.

THis gives enough Mil Units for both of the two cities and gets another worker, to start on the road to Site #3 while the settler is coming up and being built. THen, we can build a spearman and a settler afterwards. THe Spearman will either stay at Madrid or move off with the settler. At that point, the population will be higher and can support the Settler without going back to size 1.

Ok, both plans have been adjusted in my text files to account for the rules clarification.

As for the plan for Madrid, my thinking is that keeping Madrid as a pure settler+spearmen factory for now is ideal because we will have little other times in the game to pure REX. Getting to the point where we HAVE 3-4 cities I see as more time critical than having the roads to connect to them.

I'm welcome to being convinced otherwise if you and others really have a problem with that, however.

The Spearman/Settler Idea is good, but we also need the workers. Also, as you build the spearmen and send them out, you can move the Warriors in the outlying Cities to the new sites (once the Spearmen get there). THis will also allow for the building of a Barracks (if we make contact and trade for Warrior Code) and can start building Vets.

But once Pamplona gets up and running, it can be the Settler builder. I do agree that we need to get the REX started, but being non-Industrious, we will also need the workers.

Well, my idea is for us to have around 3-4 cities before I switch Madrid off of being a settler factory. At that point, Madrid can focus more exclusively on military units, improvements, and workers.
