the two blue stripes on the white background represent the talit, a jewish religious accessory. the star of david in the middle represents the jewish people. A cool design, but a rather lame symbols of representation.

but it beats the crap of some of the other flags in the region. Like cyprus...

The stars on the New Zealand flag represent the islands NZ is made up of, Australia is the same, we both have the union jack on the top left too. (I'm not 100% sure on the islands, but pretty sure). We both really need to change our flag, but we should use the same colours as the union jack, since that's where we came from, and we should respect that. (Like the US seems to have)
