N Korea defies US over nuclear crisis Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/as...fic/2608563.stm

An interesting development, what the hell will the US do now? Is there any way the US can control a nuclear-capable country without the risk of a nuclear war?

Since we know they possibly may have nukes, we shall resolve this peacefully

But since we know that IRAQ possibly may have nukes, they must DIE!

Got spare money?

N.Korea have chosen their moment carefully .. although they've been researching nuclear weapons all the time anyway.

Its difficult to see what anybody can do, damned if we do nothing, and damned if we do .. personally, I think we have to stop N.Korea, because already Iran is talking of following suit ..

Its one thing to talk big (Axis of evil) and another to put your forces where your mouth is ..

Maybe its time to hit these facilities and knock them out, but I can only imagine the problems that will cause, and with Iraq being the focus, I can imagine the best course of action is to try and delay N.Korea, and deal with them once Iraq has fallen.

Picking on the ones they can pick.
A nuclear nation can do pretty much whatever it wants, this is why the US is afraid to deal with NK, and this is why someone must deal with Iran and Lybia before it's too late.

Say these countries (Iran, Libya) do eventually get nuclear weapons... then what?

As far as I can see (not too far) if a nation is ideologically opposed to the US and has nuclear weapons, the only way the US can control it is through money; either a hefty bribe or the cutting off of all foreign money.
Once a couple of anti-US nations have nukes, they will inevitabley share with their other anti-US chums (for a price of course). Looking 20 years down the line we may well have a situation where there are numerous nations utterly opposed to the US and nuclear capable, with the US in no position to control them in any way.
Seems to me the US is polarizing the world: for us and against us. Sooner or later there has to be a hell of a big bang.

I think your future vision is not far from the mark, if things continue as they are, we could find ourselves at a point where western populations actually believe the only way to respond, is to declare war on everybody who does not subscribe to western democracy .. WW3 ..

Sept 11th was just the start, a pin ***** that made many people realise that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail !! To attack the enemy before they can even raise a single fist against you, is now seen as an almost acceptable consideration .. how long before it becomes the only consideration, and the enemy becomes real nations, with real weapons of mass destruction !

One thing is for sure, if we fail to act now, things will not get better.

I'm glad Europe is (mostly) staying away from these issues. Iraq, Korea and Iran have no quarrel with Europe (I'm not counting Britain). We should build up peaceful relations with those nations, while the US is warmongering. That's the best chance we have of staying clear of a nuclear war.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Tricky one. My prediction for The Apocalypse is around 2023-2033, unless nukes are used within the next 10-15 years, which seems unlikely as all current and soon-to-be nuclear powers aren't nearly insane enough (yes, that includes N. Korea and Iraq).

guess again. the US can waste NK is a matter of days. Nukes don't do you a lot of good when you only have 2. Can they even delivery them with anything other than in a shell?? And if they did use a nuke against the south or japan... the US would respond in same with bigger and better weapons. guess what, war over.

Dont throw a bunch of numbers around here saying they have so many troops or planes. without training, parts and fuel you're basicly not going to do much at all.

This whole thing has come about pretty fast. The US will wait for the IAEA to report what everyone already knows. Than the UN will do whatever the US likes. Than the US will setup another puppet government - probably very much like the one Iraq will get.

Where's China on this one?????? For a government who wants to play world power they sure miss a lot of chances to show the world what they are capable of of - in terms of diplomacy and military.

because the US is number one right now. I'm sure we want to stay that way. Can't let everyone walk around with a big stick.

China is no threat. Chinas worries will come from over population and the problems that grow from that.

For me, its not a matter of delivery system, its a matter of proliforation .. if N.Korea can assemble a bomb, sell it to any nut with a few million, we're all in trouble. A Nuke hitting N.Y would kill millions,of which im sure hundreds of thousands of them would not be American, and the resulting economic chaos would hit the entire planet .. So nobody is immune, everybody would be involved, if we like it or not.

i have no beef with N. Korea.

I dont care if millions die in NY or the UK apart from humanitarian reasons. On the contrary thinking about the ills these two countries have done to mine, I'd say take it in the ass you bastards.

But I admit that it is better if people dont die, then again if they die, there is a reason.

People dont go killing people without reason unless they're crazy. and nations are not crazy.

That doesn mean i dont realize the ills my country has suffered from its own people as well.

Id actively lobby for peace and safety instead of whoever's agenda for "revenge"

but the same must be done from the US and the UK.

and if i seem to ethno centric, too focused on my country, its the spirit of being in a seige which is produced by living on this instable part of the world with so many potential enemies (who have proven they willt ake action) and the pasivity of our "allies" which often goes to outright support to the ones who are a threat to us - not because its fair, but because their geopolitical interests dictate it.

so bring my pop corn

I would care if Millions died anywhere .. Im pretty sure if it happen, you'd not be so blazey about it.

The US & UK do not scoure the earth looking for people to hate .. and the people within the country have no issue with any other people's of the world .. Just as an aside, and be honest, do you feel that way about the US/UK because of Yugoslavia ??? just wondering

Maybe we should do what an old spitting images computer game did (back in the 80's), get all the world leaders together, and let them fight it out ..

Any idea's who'd win ????

Put an end to popups!

about yugoslavia?!

heh, you dont think im so monodimensional do you?

where to start?

from ww1 and your role in constantinople, to the greek civil war and your instigation of it right to cyprus and your turning fo the turks cyporiotes against greeks cypriotes when they asked for independance.

(again not that i disregard my own country's deficiencies - mainly its dictatorhsip at that time which was supported by the US and the UK - whereas france and germany for example tried to bring it down)

right now to the "silent consent" of turkey when it violates international law with air space violations and the text of ankhara for the euro army

really where to begin?

and people dont hate people unless they've done something to them

now tell me you love IRA and you will indeed be living up to what you said...
