This is priceless. People with low sex drives certainly confuse me, but now they are ill. |
I think it is more to do with people with unnaturally low sex drives, combined with other problems, such as an inability to have sex (lack of arousal, lack of blood flow, etc. as mentioned in the article). I see it like phobias, in the sense that most people have some trepidation when it comes to poisonous snakes, yet people with a phobia of snakes are unnaturally scared. The fear is out of proportion with the situation, and cannot be reasonably explained. If you use this to descirbe FSD, that many women have low sex drives, or are dissatisfied with sex, who are perfectly normal. However, there may be some women that have psychological, or even physiological issues with it, that should be addressed. If it helps people's sex lives, and they're willing to pay for it, what's the problem with it? Why should there not be a 'female viagra'?
From the article:
quote: "I think there is dissatisfaction and perhaps disinterest among a lot of women, but that doesn’t mean they have a disease.” |
They don't have a disease, it is being claimed that they might have a disorder. Though it may sound like a play on words, there is a big difference. It is quite probably a psychological thing, and thus does not need pills to help it, but they may help, for people who want to have sex but have difficulty.
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss FSD. It is quite possible that it does exist. And what makes it inventing a disease, more so than say, Bipolar Disorder, or Schitzophrenia. They are in peoples minds, but it doesn't make them any less real. FSD could well be the same, albeit less pronounced (and more common).
