“Centauri Dawn” Novels from Firaxis and Pocket Books Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

FIRAXIS Games Announces Release of Centauri Dawn
First of Three Novels Based on Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri

Hunt Valley, Maryland, November 30, 2000 FIRAXIS Games today announced that Pocket Books will publish a series of three novels based on the world of the best-selling computer game, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. The first in the series, Centauri Dawn, hits the shelves of major online and retail book stores today.

Written by Michael Ely, Centauri Dawn takes us into the world of Alpha Centauri as the Unity survivors struggle to rebuild human civilization on this strange and mysterious alien world. The story details the efforts of one man to hold the forces of violence at bay, while building his dream of lasting peace, a dream threatened by old tensions carried over from a long-dead Earth.

I'm thrilled that the world of Alpha Centauri lives on in these novels, said Sid Meier, Chairman and Director of Creative Development at FIRAXIS Games. The series is sure to appeal to fans of science fiction and computer games alike, with the action, strategy and future history themes of the game brought to life in story.

Centauri Dawn can be purchased through major online and retail bookstores worldwide at a suggested retail price of $6.50. More details and a sample chapter are available on the FIRAXIS website at www.firaxis.com.

Pocket Books is a division of Simon & Schuster, the publishing operation of Viacom Inc. Visit their website at www.SimonSays.com.

FIRAXIS Games creates fun, intelligent computer games that live in the imaginations of people the world over. Headquartered in Hunt Valley, Maryland, FIRAXIS has created such critically acclaimed games as Sid Meier's Gettysburg!, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire (all published by Electronic Arts), Sid Meier's Antietam! and Sid Meier's South Mountain!. The company is currently in production on Sid Meier's Civilization III (to be published by Hasbro Interactive). For more information or to purchase a FIRAXIS game visit www.firaxis.com

MarkG:

The Firaxis extract document contains the permission to reproduce and distribute, provided nothing is changed and attribution is given.

Why not copy and post the extract in the Apolyton SMAC Fiction forum? (and it's certainly up to the standards of your other fiction writers )
