I'll wait for the game patiently... but GAH!

I just don't want this to be a phrase--

I might as well mention other things not useful.

I sure hope the chemical weapons are actually usable for results in this one.

Chemical Weapons.

Will be interessting to learn, which Effect those Weapons of Mass Destruction have (Aside from their Damage to enemy troops).

My guess:
Nuclear Weapons: Massive Damage to enemy Troops, Massive Damage on Infrastructure, High Damage to Population, Moderate damage to Ecosphere

Chemical Weapons: Moderate Damage to enemy Troops, No Damage to Infrastructure, moderate Damage to Ecosphere

Biological Weapons: Moderate to massive Damage to enemy Troops, No Damage to Infrastructure, High to Massive Damage to Population, High to Massive Damage to Ecosphere (Bacteria tend to mutate and sometimes become more infectious (and may sometimes even become dangerous to your own troops ))

It is Sindarin,
the langauage of the Elbs in Tolkiens "Lord of the Rings"

Translated it means:

The world is changed,
I feel it in the water,
I feel it in the earth,
I smell it in the air

The "bioterminators" or whatever they were called in moo2 were so useless that I never felt pressured at all to ever research them, or use them.

I hope there are less techs which just seem useless to get. Of course that also depends on your strategy.

Useless? The bioterminators were quite enjoyable. They had the abiltity to wipe out an entire colony, without touching the buildings. All you had to do was recolonize the planet, and you had ready to use facilities. Now, besides the genocide, whats wrong with that?

The best bioterminators had what.. a 10% chance to kill?

Nah it was far more economical to use regular bombs, blow the planet to pieces (not literally), then recolonize/enslave a tiny population, because the cost of building up a planet is slight compared to refitting your armada.

Well, you don't have to refit the armada. If you have lots of bombs, the bioterminators work just fine. 300 bombs, each with a 10% chance to kill . . . .works out fine.

Balance is always the hardest part of strategy games.
Shame QS didn't feel that keeping a designer on the payroll to help balance the game was worth it.
The "proof will be in the pudding" as they say.

Well either you'd need a ship dedicated to it (a large one), or you'd need it spread across many ships, meaning they'd be able to do less damage to planet defense systems.

On another note, defense was extremely weak IMHO in Moo2. If a planet works on it long enough, it should be able to take on a fleet single handed. I mean, it's a planet.
I hope there are more defensive capabilities in the future. (How about ships with no warp-type drive?)

There are System Ships which have no Warpdrive, can travel only within their Home-System, but have more room for weapons and the like.
And there are Space Stations, which have only Station-Keeping Thrusters, obviously huge Space for Weapons, Armor and Shields and seem to be a real Obstacle to the Conquest of the Planet (as opposed to the Space Stations in MOO2, which are rather easily defeated).

There are also Weapons on the Planet and, looking on the Informations at hand, they seem to be no single Building with fixed Weapon-Type, as in MOO2, but there seem to be numerous Gun emplacements and Missile-Bases on the Planet, dependend on the Number of Military DEAS on the Planet and possibly on the Amount of Counstruction-Points or Money you spend for building such Weapons on the ground.

I don't know about everyone else, but I tended to fill up the last few spots on all my combat ships with bombs, so that after the battle they could help out. So when your entire fleet has the a few of them each, you end up with plenty.

And moo3 has orbitals (which are ships with no engines, just thrusters) and system ships (which are ships with just sublight engines). So there are plenty of defensive options in moo3.

EDIT: Heh, Proteus posted while I was writing mine. . . .
