	(For Dutch-speaking people only) Gouden Loeki 2002 Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

STER is an organisation responsible for selling airtime on Dutch public television/radio for tv/radio commercials. Every year they organize an election for the best tv commecial of that year (that aired on Dutch TV): the Gouden Loeki (their mascotte is a lion called Loeki de Leeuw (= ~Luke the Lion)). Since many of these commercials are in Dutch this thread probably isn't very interesting for people who don't speak Dutch...

I think #22 (Centraal Beheer Achmea - Overval) will win, and that happens to be my personal favourite as well

I almost never watch tv anymore and when I do the STER is a good time to take a pee, get a beer or kick my cat or something so I don't recognise half of the ones you mention.

And I hate awards that are voted for by people that watch tv, look at the list of winners of the Televizier Ring...

Get rid of commercials on public television!

Same for me, but if you watch enough tv, it's unavoidable to see most of those commercials - and in tese cases I don't mind

I have to agree there, but the Gouden Loeki is IMHO a good initiative Might actually encourage companies to make entertaining commercials, rather than annoying ones...

I actually hadn't seen #11 (Haka) and #31 (Biljart) before, saw them for the first time when I viewed them from the STER site this evening

Won't happen. Why do you think all those boring waspoeder commercials are so succesfull? People get annoyed by them so they remember the name of the product. Most of the funny or entertaining ones, people can remember why they were funny but not who made them.

A dutch friend of mine who went to college in the states showed me some really funny dutch commercials. One of them showed a family of four sitting in their car and jamming to the latest American pop music. It is clear none of them speak English but they like the beat so mom, dad, and the kids all bob their heads with the rythem of the music.

Just as the people start to get into it the singer starts to say in English "I want to f*ck you in the ass! I want to f*ck you in the ass!" over and over again. Finally the scene fads out and a sign in dutch says "Would you like to learn English? Then come to yada, yada's school of language".

That's classic stuff.

My friend showed my a clip of it on his commercial and he said it was real. I suppose it could have been fake though.

I never understood that reasoning. When I see an annoying commercial, I zap (usually before the brand name even appears, and even when I do see it, I sure as hell don't bother to remember it...). When I see an entertaining commercial, I keep watching...

You bet! I actually have a few of my insurances arranged at Centraal Beheer, primarily because of those commercials (Of course, the differences with other companies in terms of service/price were rather small, or I would have a better founded decision )

Actually, that wasn't a real commercial. It was broadcasted on tv as if it was a regular commercial (and at the time, everyone assumed it was), but it was made for the sheer purpose of winning prices, there wasn't a real product being sold (and because of that it was excluded from a number of competitions, including the Gouden Loeki)...

It was pretty good though
