Thanks for the remind guys, and for the official permission Arnelos.
We have to change to a placeholder at least one turn before we pop the hut, because that is when the random seed for the hut will be set. Changing to the placeholder on the same turn as popping the hut won't do any good, to my understanding.
Timeline:
2710BC - Spearman moves W, we set Madrid to a placeholder (Temple?)
2670BC - Spearman moves SW (into Pamplona)
2630BC - Warrior moves W, pops hut
By setting the placeholder a turn early, we have the option of popping the hut in 2670, though that would risk Pamplona. It will depend on where the ND Scout goes, and what they tell our diplomats.

If a settler pops out of the goodyhut, I would like to lead the settler to the planned site and build a city upon it.

Hmm. What will we do if we get a settler? It would waste time to make them trek all the way down to the Barcelona site - I think they should become the northwestern city of cow valley.

Señor Dejon, there is no reason for the spearman to move all the way into the city prior to popping the hut.
Instead in 2670 BC, we should simply pop the hut with Pamplona's warriors and not wait the extra turn. If barbarians emerge from it, we then move the spearmen into the city on the very same turn (and move the slaves to safety if the random placement of the barbarians immediately affects them). If no barbarians emerge, Madrid's spearmen should be free to return to Madrid. Pamplona's spearmen should be done in 4-5 turns beyond 2670 B.C. |

dejon, I don't like the idea of the spearman going into Pamplona at 2670 BC. IMO the spearman should stay on the mountains waiting for the warrior going to pop the goody hut (at 2670 BC !).
If there are barbarians in the hut, then, yes, the spearman must go into Pamplona. Otherwise, he should go back to Madrid. Our capital could be threatened by barbarians (why not ?) and the spearman would be to far to defend it if he's located into Pamplona. |
No, and No. We've been over this before.
This is what (may) happen if we do as either of you advise:
2670 - we pop the hut, spearman is just outside Pamplona. Barbarians are set loose, one right on top of the south cow, next to Pamplona
2630 - Barbarians enter Pamplona to pillage. We go move Spearman into Pamplona - oh, too late!
The crux of the issue is whether the Barbarians play their turn first (before AI and human civs), or last. I believe it is first - can someone confirm this?
