	OOC: Avatar Ideas, Help Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

I'm rapidly approaching custom avatar land (500 posts), and have started thinking about ideas for one.

My first thought was simply to use the logo of my favourite hockey team:



Then I thought about showing a picture of my character, a servant of Spain, and came up with this:



It's a little crude though. Do we have any graphic artists among us that could do better?

Does anyone have more roleplay/Spain avatar ideas?

GhengisFarb has been known to help people out when it comes to doing custom avatars. So has Aro. You know them both, so I would suspect they may be able to assist you if you have something in mind.

I personally suck, and I just searched the web til I found something I liked.

well personally... i wanted to use a Montreal Canadiens avatar before i joined here....

but my current avatar is the shield of the Ninot family in spain. True story, cuz a spaniard named Ninot thought i was his relative and volunteered alot of information about the family to me.

maybe you as well could look for a coat of arms and whatever.

Genghis has to be the best at it. I am competent at graphics and would be happy to give a try at anything if someone would be willing to help me steal/bootleg/free download a fully-functioning version of Photoshop; I have found Pixia to be a poor substitute.

If no one can help me get a bootlegged copy, please disregard this post... as I am about 6 posts away from a custom avatar myself and just couldn't resist.

The PtW units doesn't seem to be available yet in the avatars list here, but if you can use a custom one you could use the conquistador :

While we're on the topic, I need an avitar too . I've been over 500 forever, waiting for one I like . I'll probably just keep waiting, but if anyone's got any ideas, I'm open to it. I quite liked Ghengis/Dejon's idea of encorperating the team logo, and I'll probably do something on my own relating to that, but since the thread was here, I thought I'd go ahead and ask .

So -- any ideas ?

I'll second that ... but since we are talking about custom avatars, how do you go about customizing it?

Does it give you an option to upload one after you have reach 500 posts? Or do you have to have web-space? Anyone? Anyone?

The Conquistador is a fine idea.

Perhaps you could find a larger image of a drama mask that suits you as well.

Maybe an image of Espania.

But the best thing to do is simply hunt and dig through the net until something just strikes you.

The thing that I did was to first look at what I like. I like the Sluggy Freelance online Comic (see the link at the bottom of my posts - Worship THe Comic...) and had taken a picture of Riff firing off his Laser Cannon at the Cloned Allie.

Just go with what you like. You'll find something.

Once you get the 500 post mark, you just update your avatar and you get the option of picking one. No web space needed. You just have to have the file saved on your machine so it can be downloaded..... I don't remember all the particulars such as size and what not. Just experiment and see.

500! I had hoped to not choose an avatar until I could get a custom one but that seems like an unattainable goal.

Actually, I found it very easily attainable. I had about 30 posts before signing up for this game - a little under two months ago!

When I had started to play the SPDG, I only had 153 posts, from when I had joined 'Poly in March of '01, and in the last 4 months, I've gotten over 1000. Ofcourse, I had also been a mamber of the Running Government for most of that time...

Speaking of which, the SPDG still needs a President (to run the game) and Domestic Minister (to oversee the RA's and set domestic Policy) for the next term.

I searched the forums found a post that said the limits are 80x80 pixels, 10Kb.

How about this one?

This character was the original inspiration for my nick. This guy, Dijon, was a cowardly thief in the Duck Tales TV show and movie. I was the younger, opportunistic and impetuous one, and my friend was the older, wiser one - his brother the priest in the movie - Poupon.
