Why don't people understand this? How can someone be arrested multiple times and still not get it? How can the community not give an adequate punishment until its too late?

i think we need harsher punishments for drunk driving, too.

I sincerely hope that no one you know was hurt or killed by a drunk driver (or was a drunk driver themselves)

because people are stupid.
it is that simple sometimes.
that is why i support limited amputation.
if you're caught driving drunk, they should cut off your pinky and start from there.

keep doing it and pretty soon youll have no fingers to drive with, which would effectively end the problem as well.

it is an integrated program with NO loose ends

I have a friend who got arrested for DUI, and he has since been a good boy. The punishment works on some people... why others don't seem to care is beyond me.

people... people..people... Legalizing alcohol was our governments way of keeping it's population under control. If they legalized weed and banned alcohol no one would be getting run over, everyone would be eating and staying home more often and having sex!
People who think that drinking doesn't constrew their perception or ability to drive are probably DRUNK at this very moment(Raging alcoholic)!!! Stupid stupid stupid!!
I can't stand people who put their life and my life in danger because it's legal to leave your home and drink some beers and then by golly how shall i get home??? HMMMMMM I guess I'll drive!!!

Alcohol also makes sex more likely. It's a social lubricant. As long as you're not falling down drunk.

Yeah. But if you're not falling down drunk, it still makes you more likely to take action. And of course if the woman is intoxicated, her inhibitions will be likley to droop.

same with women

so it does make sex more possible, but I am not sure if that is a good thing for the person drinking

I find that trips have an inhibition-dropping effect on women. When they are on travel, they are more likely to scrog. I guess they figure that word won't get home...or something. I just know that I've seen woment on travel get much wilder.

I always thought that if you hit someone whilst DUI you should be done for murder or attempted murder depending on the outcome and punished accordingly. I do not understand people who would drive a car after drinking a skinful.

I don't drive, but I don't even cycle after more than a few pints.

It was in Mass.
The tough thing about this is that it is such a small city... All the kids know all the other kids. There truly are no "wallflowers".

Simmilar event happened in southern Croatia, not long ago. A 18 year old drove too fast and killed two girls on a zebra (where pedestrians cross the road). He was driving his new BMW (daddy bought for his 18 birthday) 50 km/h above the limit. He wasnt drunk, but he had a previous record of speeding and other offenses, like driving without licence, which he couldnt own since he was under 18. Five or six times he got fined but since his daddy is rich he just payed the fines and continued to drive illegaly.

And now two 16 year old girls are dead

He got 2,5 years of juvenile jail. Too little or too much who am I to say

The problem is once you're drunk, you're not competent to make the decision not to drive. That's why something needs to be done beforehand, such as lock boxes for car keys and having to pass a breathilyzers to get your keys back. Of course, jerks would just carry a spare set of keys.

I dont hide the key away from me when I drink, but my rule of thumb is to not drive anytime within 6 hours if i do. My not-so-much a friend, but a close associate was dead when the drunk and drove. I hear his body was impaled to some pole and they had to yank him out.

the stepfather of a friend of mine has been to prison twice for drunk driving, including once for killing his girlfriend, and yet still does it. why can't people just pay for taxi's?
