I have added a couple of small wonders that require the resources to be within the city radius, both add culture and a bit of happiness:
Jewlers - needs gems & gold (gold changed from bonus to strategic)
Shunzu Silk - needs silk and dyes

From that Modm as far as Great Wonders go, I like the Sphinx, Empire State Building, Eiffel Tower, Buddha, Las Vegas, Disneyland, and Bible. The Arc de Triumphe might need a victorious army and enable larger armies as well. Edison's Workshop would allow two new techs maybe?
For small wonders, the two extra palaces would be extremely cool. Lessening corruption and allowing you to keep control over your overseas conflicts without too much corruption. Very cool. Holy City? Cool. Supreme Court? Definitely. And have it add a Courthouse to every city on the same continent, maybe? Constitution, also cool. Might need some work, though. Central Bank sounds almost the same as Wall Street, but it shows promise. I like the World News Net (Couldn't the Internet do the same thing?) National Library I love. Sports League is awesome. E-Bank they obviously got from Call to Power II. But then they got a lot of these from Call to Power II.
All in all, if they ever made an expansion with even one or two of these and decent images in the City View screen, well, hell yeah, I'd buy it. They need to change the Internet one in the real game, though. But that's me, going on and on and on, so I'll just end it there.

The Mars Project? Would be great with something like that! I feel winning the Space race now is a bit too easy once you start heading for it.
How far away is Alpha Centauri? It's about 4 light years, right? If it is, it's actually possible to reach with today's technology if the project is given enough resources and someone is willing to give up their lifetime for it. I think it's possible to gain 10% of lightspeed meaning it will take 40 years to go there (considering the warriors in Civ3 use 50 years for a single square in the early ages, that's not so bad!).

Way too easy to get there in all the Civ games. Maybe the Mars Project, then development of cryonics (freezing tubes and such) or some form of hibernation. That would be the only way you could really do it, unless you had an absolutely HUGE ship with enough resources to support a crew for forty years... and train replacements... well, you see the problem. No mention of Cryonics of hibernation in the game.
And I know that we're nowhere near either of those technologies.
Also, if we had a crew sleeping for that long, who would pilot the ship? A computer? A computer, even now, in the nearly twenty-first century, could not pilot a ship that long without having some need for diagnostics, or it would either pilot the ship off course or go nuts (One word: HAL.) and that, of course, would be a problem.
And Alpha Centauri is the closest star to us. We would have to at least put a man on Mars before we could even consider putting a man on a planet orbiting another star.
Also, we'd have to confirm that there even was a planet orbiting Alpha Centauri. It's a planet in a double-star system [triple-star if you count Alpha Centauri C (Proxima Centauri)] and that would be impossible to handle with modern spacesuits.
SO many problems that only a trip to Mars would be able to even partially solve.
We've never landed on a planet with an alien atmosphere, and they expect us to believe that we could go straight from the Moon to a planet orbiting an alien star? Yeah, right.
There are dozens of things that point out that we'd have to go to Mars before the stars.
You could write a book on the necessity of a Mars mission on the road to colonizing space (which would be awesome in future Civ games, in my opinion, Test of Time got it almost right), which I also believe is the next logical step in the growth of humanity. Any day now, a huge meteor or comet could wipe us all out because we have all our eggs in one basket, as it were.
But that is another story.
