Pamplona Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

Okay, I've run scenarioes of different options for Pamplona in an attempt to come up with the best outcome for the near future. I'm sorry to say that I cannot post screenshots or images; I don't have any webspace to link to. You'll just have to trust me ... and I trust the scenario; it hasn't let me down so far.

I first thought I might like to micromanage Pamplona to utilize the forest tile to get the spearman more quickly. I found this to not be the case, though; the spearman will be done in 2430 B.C. (six turns from now) regardless of whether we use the cow bonuses or not. Therefore, we might as well use them to preserve growth. However, under these circumstances, Pamplona would reach size 3 before its garrison is completed; I would like to request that the newly-conscripted Bulgar Warriors (or another expedition) be moved to Pamplona temporarily to quell the population until the spearman is built.

Since Señor Tamali was interested in how fast we could get a settler before garrisoning the city, I ran the same two options as above and found the settler would be done in 2350 B.C. no matter what. That is eight turns from now.

As to what the queue is now, I would prefer to keep it a spearman so as to go ahead and get defense for Pamplona. Pamplona will remain out of civil disorder while at size 4 without a temple or luxuries. The next unit after the garrison could be a settler. It would be completed in 2150 BC (just five turns beyond the completion date of a settler if we revised our queue to that now).

For those concerned about the horses near el Valle de los Toros, perhaps our ambassadors should hint at it in correspondence to see if ND would have a reason to want ours. Do they already have the Wheel? I don't know if we should assume they will not have any near their territory, and they certainly wouldn't have an easy time getting it back to their capital from there anyway.

Concerning the second cow, I am of the opinion it should be mined. Strong growth will not be an early problem for this city. With one cow producing 4 food, another producing 3, and a flood plain to the south with the potential for 3 when irrigated, I was able to push the city to size 5 and still have growth within 4 turns. I see growth a secondary issue to shield production. Corruption will take a bite out of this city's shields and maximizing that will be prove more difficult early on. Later, when our labor force has less priorities and mining mountains is not prohibitive, it could always be revised to produce more food.

Happiness may be a factor when we start to allow the city to grow a little. No temple or luxuries are needed at size 4. By size 5, we will need one or the other, and by size 6, Pamplona will need both or entertainment will have to be provided.

That is all I have for now. Since I could not post any screenshots, let me know if there is anything else anyone has a question about, and I'll double check

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

this is just a test. I'm a novice with a webspace, but I'm setting one up at geocities so I can post screenshots or whatever as needed.

If it works, it'll be here

If you are seeing it, its just a test. Not a current screenshot of Pamplona or anything. I'll get to that part tomorrow
